Sweet!! I have been really hoping for a repaint of that aircraft (and some of the other plentiful Mk.IX's flying today). Very much looking forward to this, Marcel!

Very nice!

I just picked up the Realair Spits. Beautiful planes and different enough from the A2A version that both get their fair share of stick time.

Looking forward to it. :)

I just got the RealAir Spitfire too, and am enjoying flying it, but it wasn't until I looked at this repaint that I realised there are both round and pointy fin versions of the IX included.

Yes very nicely done via "codes" in the title, so you can fit every repaint with a pointy tail if you want, same goes for the VC.
LR = Pointy tail
GS = Gunsight in the VC, if you leave this out, you still get the old cockpit yet the gunsight is replaced with a radio/transponder and a VOR1 gauge.

@mirage3:
The repaint is WIP, hope to release within 2 weeks.

Absolutely worth it for the price. Hope you don't mind a few shots of (some of) the default skins...lots of models in this one.

Some nice work again Marcel.

The only thing I would suggest is that the red on the roundels and fin flash should be Dull Red, and not the brighter post war 'Post Office' or Cherry Red that seems to be what the red on the paint kit was based on. (The picture on the BBMF page you link makes the red look like the post war type, but it is infact dull red).

Heres a picture of MK356 at Gilze Rijen showing a better representation of the roundel colours: -

(I think the other roundel colours need correcting from those in the paintkit).

I see someone else (John Glanville I think) has been busy with some new and updated schemes for the RA Spitfire IX.

I agree about the usefulness of the 'code' method for changing parts of the aircraft model.

I thought more developers might use it, but I think the only other planes I've seen it used on are the Dave Garwood Beaufighter and Rapide.

Cheers

Hello Paul,

With regards to the red of the roundels, i've taken the colorcode of the site you mentioned. Also note the photo at Gilze is taken in dull weather without much direct Sun and in the screenshots the sun was shining :)
So real-life in the sun examples:

Will take a second look at the red-colour.

I'm aware of John's new repaint, so we don't any double repaints.

Marcel

[EDIT]
Redone all the roundels, blue a bit darker and the red bit darker and some green to it, what do your think:

Looking good Marcel!

I think the roundels are much nearer to the real A/C than before.

(I'm always amazed how different photographs can show the colours with quite a big difference to what they actually are, so sometimes you have to make a compromise as to what looks right in the sim).

Looking forward to it.

Cheers

For me this remains one of the best FSX add-ons I have and I go back to it now and then just to enjoy painting and flying it. I've done this for a friend and it's now uploaded here and at Flightsim. RK889 was an H.F.IX allocated to No. 313 (Czech) Sqdn. (sorry - uploaded incorrectly as Polish). Subsequently sold to Denmark, it was used as a trainer until being written off at Ronne in 1954.

I've used the dull red and a dull Oxford Blue for the markings and it's painted as 'worn'
