do you also use Orbx FTX Global Vector? I guess then Pilot's FS Global 2010 FTX Compatible mesh might be the right choice. At least FTX Vector seems to be designed around this mesh. So these water-rollercosters will most likely disappear And to fix the plateau airports FTX Vector offers a small tool that should fix most of them

I have the morphing textures issue described by Holger in this post http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/79004-resolving-rapid-ground-texture-morphing/ however following his instructions, unfortunately has had no effect. I have posted in their support forum and will wait for a solution.
The situation is that I have Eu selected in Central and am flying from Dishforth within the UK. Ahead of the Wellington's nose you can see a patch of sand with water in it. This had changed from grass and changed yet again having passed over the area.

Hi Tim. No, i don't have FTX Global Vector ( yet...). Next to FTX Global, FSGenesis Europe and now FTX Global OpenLC Eu i also use UTX Europe but only, more or less, half of it. F.i. i cannot live with all these roads ruining the beautiful ground textures and autogen as if they weren't there. Ok, so much for 'as real as it gets' but it's all more or less fictional anyway, isn't it. So i go with 'as beautiful as it gets'.

Been reading up about it, thanks for the tip! Seems though that FSG2010 still has its own problems with elevation at certain area's. Wish i could try a demo so i wouldn't need to install the full 40 Gigs just to find out i like FSGenesis better...
I wonder if FTX Vector tracks FTX Autogen so you don't see roads and rivers running thru houses and buildings anymore. If that would be true i'd ask my grumpy cc about it immidiately.
Do you know if FTX Vector replaces UTX all together ?
Yes, read about that too, AFM, right ? Seems it does work to some extend. I do find these elevation problems at airports the most distracting so i might go with FTX Vector.

Why don't you use FTXGlobal/hybrid, Roger ? Don't you see a lesser fps too flying with FTXEurope ticked compared to Global/hybrid ? I do, certainly flying over London. ( all sliders max, no road traffic )
Maybe i still don't get it, but we still see FTXEurope (in this case England) when FTXGlobal is activated and Hybrid is ticked, right ?...

Hi Jan, When flying within a region and not intending to go outside that region I prefer to take advantage of the specific region's autogen and as we know the Global hybrid autogen is a compromise.

Holger has kindly replied to my support query and told me that I need to move all my eu lc entries to a much lower place in the scenery cfg. I had already done this but unfortunately they didn't stay there and on checking they were all back up close to the top. I need to understand the FTX Central insertion point tool which is a little confusing for me.
To those with morphing textures issues - I had this issue rear it's head when I used to have Orbx scenery - I found that my terrain file over time got worse with using the FTX scenery switcher thing
So maybe the issue is there. My posts about it may still be on the orbx forum under "shousa".

Yoké, sorry to say, but i think i see what you mean... Dang it, promised myself to stick with Global/hybrid.Period. Now not sure anymore..
I just picked something, short flight Carlisle-Manchester, 3000 ft, 140kts. First P3D-FTX England, no 3P mesh no OpenLC, followed by FSX-FTXGlobal/Hybrid/OpenLC, and finally FSX-FTXEurope/OpenLC.

It is useful to be able to fly from one region to another or from global to region or vice versa without having to restart FsX, which used to be the case before global and hybrid.
With help from ORBX I managed to get my Europe landclass to stay down the bottom of the scenery.cfg and stay there, so those anomalies reported earlier seem to have been cured.

I'm a few thousand miles from my sim computer so can't be specific on
the exact names but have you used the tool in FTX Central that allows you
to define the load point for FTX elements in the scenery.cfg file?
I only have Global plus EU, NRM, CRM, and all of Australia but all those entries
stay way down in my scenery.cfg where I chose to place them....right above Berlin.
If you just manually move them, they will re-insert themselves at the top when
you make a change to the FTX Central settings. If you use the tool to define the insertion point they stay there.
As for settings, I fly mostly from the EU to 'occupied Europe' during missions
with the 91st Bombardment Group so I set my FTX to Global+Hybrid.
I see noticeable differences around UKBA, Bassingbourn, between the 'pure'
EU setting and the Global/Hybrid setting. (UKBA is custom for the 91st)
The way OrbX replaces default LC textures causes some issues with 'custom'
scenery for areas or airfields. Moving all the FTX stuff way down below the
custom stuff resolved much of that but there were still some issues that
required choosing a different LC in the custom scenery that looked 'similar'
when switching between regions or with and without Global.
In the case of the 91st, not everyone has, or can afford these addons so when
we are flying missions not everyone sees the exact same thing. This can cause
problems at the target unless mission-specific scenery is used. As the Mission
Development Officer I am tasked with the creation of that stuff.
I often resort to photo scenery at the target but the waypoints can be
problematic. I usually place waypoints at places that can be visually I.D'ed
on the route...lakes, bridges, etc. With myriad scenery options available
now, this has become almost moot as I can't guarantee that a lake is
going to be visible to everyone without going to the extra effort of creating
small photo scenery areas at all the waypoints. A very time consuming
effort! The other option would be to require all pilots on the mission to
fly with default scenery, but that wouldn't 'fly' with most and of course
that is not possible with FTX Global as you can not easily revert back
to 'default' without jumping through a bunch of hoops!
For now, I will pass on Open LC as I really do not want or need
another variable in the mission equation.

Absolutely. I seemed to understand that 'FTXGlobal OpenLC' upgraded FTXGlobal's textures and autogen to such extend that the difference between FTXGlobal and the FTXEuro UK regions would only be minimal. I know better now.

Just read a raving review about Pilots Global Mesh at Avsim. Impressive Alps/Courchevel video included.

So i took off from LFLJ as well (don't have Twin Otter installed yet) and have to come to conclusion that i don't see any reason to chance my FSGenesis mesh for Pilots mesh. ( my cc is also happy about that plus i don't need to go thru the installation of Pilots mesh which, according to the Avsim thread, seems to be quite a hassle)
As i have not really ventured into the realms of FS video creation, here's a still shot of my trip above the Alps with OpenLC and FSG :

The Europe part for the main regions is like Oceana, North America... its not 'all of it' just the region you own. WITHIN the parent region. And FTX Global's rendition of the UK is nothing like FTX England etc. Nowhere close.
I run in hybrid if im flying from the uk to Europe.... no problem, inside the UK and I? FTX is set to europe. No issue.
If I plan to run exlusively outside of a region, in global domain, I run global without Hybrid. Done! Its really not hard.

Hello Roger,
Would you care to share with us how to keep the Europe LC at the bottom of the scenery library? With the scenery insertion point tool of FTX Central I can move the FTX Global files down but not the Europe LC files.

As per the ORBX thread, I downloaded a freeware program called Scenery Config Editor from this location http://sourceforge.net/projects/fs-sceditor/?source=pdlp and grouped all the European lc entries so they could be moved as a block and put them below the last ORBX entry where I had set the insertion point for ORBX scenery. The insertion point suggested is above Edwards_AFB and below Addon Scenery in the scenery menu in FsX.

Roger, it worked! I made a few observations, that may or may not be correct, but I give them here so that others may benefit: It seems that the changes made with Scenery Config Editor only persist if, afterwards, you go to the scenery library in FSX and ckick on ‘OK’ (as a sort of confirmation). Also; different scenery settings in FTXCentral (global, Europe etc). seem to generate their own scenery libraries. So, you have to make the above adjustments for each relevant FTXCentral scenery option. It may be wise to take this into account when adding further scenery. If the above does not work, you can try disabling the OpenLC sceneries when you want to fly in an ORBX region.
