Wittmund for FSX

ian elliot

SOH-CM-2025
Just uploaded, hope you like------

Wittmund, northeast Germany. for FSX, SP2 and Acceleration, not tested in other versions

Home of JG71s Phantom fleet for over 30 years until replaced last year by the Eurofighter

This is a rework of my FS9 scenery, but with many custom made objects, you will also need some add-on
librarys including---

ggse_i3.zip FS2004 Military Ground Service Equipment Library by John Stinstrom, also found in many
MAIW scenerys, almost everyone has these installed somewhere in there system

euromil_js.zip. FS2004 European Military Object Library, by John Stinstrom, both zips found at Flightsim

Kirk Olsson has kindly given me his permission to use his F-86 in JG71 markings as static gate guard.

unfortunatly, im not sure where i got the lamps from, so thank you to however made them.

Untill i find my way around scenery tools for FSX, im using FS2004 objects, ive a low spec system but
this scenery runs fine

There is a basic traffic file included using ai_f-4c.zip by Fernando Martinez found at Flightsim.com
although, as its a FS9 port-over aircraft there are issues with the textures which some may not like,
im not really happy myself but if anyone knows of a good alternative or knows how to tweak the textures,
its the best i can do im afraid. If you want to try it, look for these files---

1- ai_f-4c.zip by Fernando Martinez found at Flightsim.com

2- f4aipack.zip by Klaus Hinkel, all you need from this pack are the JG71 Richthofen textures by Andy Nott.
DO NOT install the Afcad or the traffic file, just the texture's

As ive just mention'd, the Phantom in question has problems with the cockpit glass, ive try'd running it through DXTBmp
and try'd saving it in a number of formats, but it still has issue's, ive also try'd using the Nick Black/ Mike Pearson model, but i
cant get it to show at all, i may try the F-4's from the MAIW German Eurofighter package, if anyone has better luck than me, please share

Thanks, ian

Thanks Ian:applause:
Have you tried Mike Pearson V2 model of the phantom? I have a few flying around
in fsx and have no texture issues with them.

Ive just been experimenting with that Nick Black model but i cant get it to show, cant figure if its a fault in my traffic file or what, the older FM model shows fine but with the crap cockpit textures, oh well----
cheers ian

Zolt, are those the Nick Black models? I did the same as Ian and tried to use NBAI
models and they are a no show. I also used the same package you linked to at avsim.:dizzy:

FS2004 European Military Object Library. This library is derived using models from some of my already released custom sceneries as well as numerous new objects. Most of the objects are found at military bases and share a common green/brown pallete that is prevalent in many Western European Countries. The object of this library is to allow users to quickly set up a bare minimum scenery for themselves or add more detail to any existing scenery. Library includes over 120 objects including barracks/dormitory buildings, utility buildings, UNIMOG-type vehicles, avionics objects, shelters, hangars, and more. All objects are XML based and can be placed with most scenery programs. By John Stinstrom.

Yes, NBAI models!
It is important to have alpha channel!

OK, I have played with the alpha's and still can't get these birds to show.
Can you post the alpha you are using? I already have both the packages
you posted links to, (I use them in fs9) but this one has me stumped.
Thanks

Joe

For those who believe they have alpha channel issues, please find 'dxtfixerx_v2.1.zip' on avsim.

Full instructions for use are included in the download.

Hello Ian,

Are you planning to another military bases? :jump:

Zsolt

Maybe, but at the moment im looking at my older FS9 favorite's and seeing what works with minimal tweaking.
When ive got the credit card bill back behind the fence then i'll pick up Instant scenery and then maybe something more ambitious :mixed-smiley-010:

If your intrested, the Phantoms from the MAIW German Eurofighter pack work,
although ive unzipped the package into a temp folder, copy'd the "MAIW NBAI_F4F_Phantom GAF" into Simobjects/airplanes,
Renamed "Traffic_MAIW_GAF Phantom.bgl" to "Traffic_MAIW_GAF Phantom_FSX.bgl" and placed into the Wittmund scenery folder.

Although there's no reason why it would'nt work, be careful if you want to install the whole MAIW package, make sure you remove any afcad with the ETNT code, install into a temp folder first and check the Scenery/world folder

cheers ian

Renamed "Traffic_MAIW_GAF Phantom.bgl" to "Traffic_MAIW_GAF Phantom_FSX.bgl" and placed into the Wittmund scenery folder.

Unfortunately, it's not quite that simple. If you do just that, you'll find that all your FSX-native AI will stop working because you've introduced an FS9-format traffic BGL into your FSX system.
Renaming it makes no difference. You'd be amazed at the number of people who do this and then come complaining because they've lost traffic.

You need to convert the traffic file to FSX format, and this is most easily achieved by the use of AIFP - which will search for FS9 traffic files for you.
You can then convert them - and delete the offending originals.

Make sure you do delete the originals, or the problems will persist and you won't have any FSX-native AI traffic.

It's easiest to keep an eye on your AI traffic if you keep all your traffic files in the one place - namely <fsx>\scenery\world\scenery.

This is possibly the reason some people are having trouble seeing AI traffic.

Dave

Now there's something i did'nt know, save's me scratching my head and posting a q later,thanks Dave

Edit, i thought i'd do a test, i haven't much ai installed yet but i do have RAF Marham and the Twin base's by the ACG team installed, and guess what , all the ai gone, so its probably best if you delete the traffic file from your Wittmund/scenery folder untill i can figure out a new one.
cheers ian
