Kill Report

Does anyone have a suggestion on getting the names for these reports? First off . . let me state that I LIKE THE CONCEPT! The problem I am having is remembering the name of someone that was close by . . or in my flight.

It would be nice if this report would list the pilots from the last flight in some manner. Maybe a listing in the report itself. Or in a drop down menu as options??

Maybe I am just being dense <grin>. But flying a couple of different campaigns . . . I cant keep the names of my flight mates straight.

AI-1, AI-2, AI-3, . . . etc. <grin>.

Hi Kamikaze,
Maybe have a scratch pad on your desk, and write down the names of your wingies before you 'go to field'.
Cheers,

I have the same problem. the only thing I can think of is to write down the names before the mission and hope the one you pick as a witness wasn't the one shot down!!!:faint:

Yes, now it appears that if you want to even try to get credit for your kills you have to do three things:

1) learn the names of your wingman
2) keep him close - no running off by yourself
3) keep him alive!

All this may not matter, however, if you are Gimpyguy and are going after balloons - you'll never get a confirmed kill. I believe the dev team hard coded that into BHAH.

Well, what about kill credit on those "Lone Wolf" missions then? I look forward to getting them. Are they gone in P3???

It appears that the ground forces are no longer able to confirm kills. If that's true, maybe it could be fixed in a patch?

try this

when you get to the briefing screen you can click the flight group to see flight 1 or 2...it alternates...when you call up your flight, drag/select your wingman's name. When you right click it to copy it the script will jump back to the other flight but just click it again to return to your flight, then right click the name you'd selected again and it'll appear highlighted and you can select copy on the right click drop menu saving it at least to try pasting in the after flight claim report witness box.....might not be the right witness but as it seems a crap shoot anyhow as to who's near you in a melee....your wingie's as good a bet as any. NOW....since figuring out how to copy the wingie name...I haven't had a kill in order to try and paste the name in a claim report.....anybody give it a go and let me know please....flew 4 milk runs, 2 more unable to catch Spads, and one off-mission Balloon pop out of sheer frustration that not only didn't yeild a claim report but lost me my wingman to flak whose name I'd presumably copied in the first place...what a mess.

Thanks for the responses. I do have a notepad and have tried writing down a name . . ideally of a wingman. Its just very cumbersome. I will try GAW's suggestion and copy a pilots name before flying so it will be ready to paste into the report. Hopefully he will not have been killed <grin>.

Be well!

I don't want to give too much away but you do not have to give a wingman's name - you can make it up.

However if you do - ahhm it will help the odds.....

And yes if support is here.... P4 will see a far better system as we get deeper into the other mans code.

W....priceless....can't wait to enter Julius Caesar or Mother Theresa in the witness box.....see if the claims board buys it...Thanks Mate!

I wrote down the names of pilots in my flight, as suggested, and got a kill in a mission. Filled out claim report and flew another scrap. I got back from the mission and up pops. "Kill claim lodged by squadmate. See duty board for details." I see he has 1 kill and no claims. Does this mean that my squadmate was credited with the kill? Or that he rejected my claim? Sorry Im no English major and was curious about the way the word "lodged" was being used.:redf:

Sounds like your mate got the credit. Lodged would be the same as "filed" here, IOW, "kill claim filed by squadmate" or "made".

One thing I have changed in the reports is the phrasing. I do change the "Aircraft hit" to "Aircraft Destroyed".

I have no clue if this will change or affect anything at all . . . but I "like" the sound of it better <grin>.

Rooster your squadmates will get claims and kills independently of you, although who knows maybe they would claim the kill you claim ;)

Wilkommen to the Western Front - your experience is certainly not ahistorical. There was quite a bit of political interference and 'poaching' of claims in the Luftstreitkräfte.

I'm sure folks will often actually get kills they don't realize they have and thus never file claims for them. In some wild furball, you fire a quick snapshot as somebody crosses your nose, but you never look to see the results because you've got other things to worry about. But it turns out you had a magic bullet in your belt, and down he goes.

So you never know it happened, but several of your wingies saw him go in and know it was you who did it. You never file a report, but there's this step on the stairway to a date with Mata Hari or the Blue Max lying there smoldering. So after a day or so, will your wingies draw straws to see which of them gets credit, and then file a claim for the winner with the rest corroborating?

What about bribery? Suppose I have a "von" or "Sir" in my name and money in my pockets. Can I hand out enough free booze to buy witnesses to any improbably tale I make up?

How long does it usually take to get a decision on a claim, one way or the other? And is there a notification box?

I have yet to get a confirmed kill. Granted the longest I've had a pilot survive is 5 missions, so I may not be living long enough. But one of those pilots had 7 claims, then spent a month in the hospital. When he got out still nothing. He died the next mission, but surely a month is long enough to confirm or deny a kill claim.

My current pilot is also 5 missions in and already has 13 claims. I'd like to at least get 1 confirmed kill after destroying that many aircraft!

Thanks for the help. I got it now. Just wasnt sure what "lodged" meant in the reference it was made. But, I figured it out after more time playing.

what word/words DOES P3 need to see in the claim box to process a credit? "KILLED", "DESTROYED", "WASTED", "GREASED", "WAXED", "HIT", "NAILED"...or in my case "MISSED BY A MILE"?...or are there no specifics just as long as something/anything is entered??

I am not giving the game away - but think in terms of the period and give as accurate an account as possible.... read some typicals on the net or in books that will help...
