ETO - Dud Av History Bomb

Just did a perfect run on a German armored column, early 1945, in my Tempest. The AvHistory_gb_bomb_500lb bombs dropped plumb on target. Poof! There was a bang but the column went merrily on its way. :banghead:

So I checked the weapon's xdp. The blast radius is a puny 17.9, versus the stock b_500lb's 112.

Has anyone else noticed this dud?

All the AvH weapons have a very small blast radius compared to the stock ones, they pretty much necessitate a direct hit anything tougher than a Jeep to do any useful damage.

I should have a word with your armourers David! :kilroy:

Too right I will!

@ Greycap - thats interesting. However I think the difference between the two is large - like a power of 10. The Av History 250lb has a blast radius of over 70. Hence I think I will talk to the armorers about modifying the Av_history gb 500lb, which clearly is suffering from a typo. Could be worse, could be real life :pop4:

I'm not quite sure there's a typo. Or if there is, it may not be the 500lb that is affected but your 250lb is showing some odd data. Right from the actual AvH weapons set, not ETO:

250lb: BlastRadius="14.2"
500lb: BlastRadius="17.9"
1000lb: BlastRadius="22.6"
2000lb: BlastRadius="28.4"
4000lb: BlastRadius="640" - now that's weird
8000lb: BlastRadius="90.3"
12000lb: BlastRadius="129.6"

These things really don't have much blast radius at all. Or the stock ones had excessively much of it... after all one 8000lb will just about wipe out a V weapon facility even with those values.

I checked out that 4000lb blast radius of '640'
in my folder called AvH_Guns_Weapons_Pak (03/04/08).

Seems that it was corrected in 'AvH_WepPak_041708' to 71.6!

Oh, thanks Daiwilletti, Pat Pattle, Greycap and Hairyspin.

Ha now that is wierd - I have a 250lb which is atypical too? Maybe my armorer sorted it out a while ago!

Now I really will have to polish up my bombing approaches. The stock stuff really does encourage sloppy work - you can take out an entire artillery battery with a single stick of 500lb bombs.

That certainly sounds more like it. Interestingly enough ETO still has the original value.

No need even for a stick, I remember a pair of 500lbs blowing entire facilities sky high back in the day when I played dynamic campaigns with stock aircraft and weapons. AvH may be a bit on the strict side but the stock bombs really are next of kin to mini-sized nuclear warheads.
