Killer Svend,

Actually, you were right on this one. You were having this problem because you hit on the one thing that I swore I put into the instructions but apparently neglected to. (THANK YOU, by the way) Because these are USAAC missions (United States Army Air Corps) rather than USN (United States Navy) missions, I used the expanded country.cfg file which has 19 entries, including the USAAC.

So yes, your analysis is quite correct. If you are using the standard country.cfg file which has only four entries, (Great Britain, Germany, the United States Navy and the Japanese Navy) anything else is deemed "unfriendly." Ergo, the British act as if the Americans are still rebellious Colonists.

Please use the attached country.cfg file in place of the one you have. It should clear this up.

Sorry about that! :banghead:

One dumb question about this campaign...

If everything is included with the auto-install, can I install it in a virgin CFS2 folder, or do I still need to make an ETO installation using your excellent guide before installing the 20th FG campaign ?

Roxanne,

Not a dumb question at all! It is built on top of the ETO scenery setup, as all my ETO works are. I made sure to specify that in the instructions:

The 20th Fighter Group campaign, like all my works for the ETO, runs off of Sander & Rhumbaflappy's ETO base scenery setup. If you do not have this yet, please download the instructions by clicking on this link: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=49&id=2931

If you've already installed that for another sim, you may not have to do it again. I can teach you how to create a centralized scenery folder. I run all of my ETO and MTO installs off of one set of Rhumba and Sander's files in a central location.

Thanks ! I am still building my PTO/CBI installation, but be sure your campaign will be one of the first I will try when I will be switching to ETO/MTO.

I am using Jean Bomber's Easy Multi-Install utility. If you have another method, I would be glad to know. :encouragement:

Roxanne,

Here is what a "centralized" scenery.cfg entry looks like for one of the scenery layers for Malta...

[Area.024]
Title=Land Class Malta
Local=C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\CFS2 Scenery\scenedb\Land Class Malta
Active=TRUE
Layer=24
Required=FALSE
Remote=

You can see that the scenery.cfg local entry "points" to the folder where my "common" scenery (used by more than one installation) resides.

The same applies for aircraft and ship models that are used by more than one installation...

[models]
normal=C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\CFS2 Models\Boeing B-17f Flying Fortress\B17F

[models]
normal=C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\CFS2 Models\VN_FREIGHTER\vn_freighter
crash=C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\CFS2 Models\VN_FREIGHTER\vn_freighter

And as far as sounds for an aircraft...

[FLTSIM]
alias=C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\CFS2 Engines\Single\Allison V-1710-39

The idea behind this is to only have one set of sounds, scenery, and models that every sim can use.

In some cases, if the aircraft / scenery / or sounds are not used by other installations, then they just remain exclusive to that sim. This happens often on the Eastern Front.

Wow ! I was used to play with alias for sounds, panels, etc., but I didn't know we could point to such a different game folder !

Thank you for this tip ! :wavey:

I am trying to understand how you have all your "stuff" in one place to be used by various Theaters of Operations. I have a different install for each theater and have to load all the scenery, objects etc. for each mission. Can you explain more of this to this fog head? Or am I just misunderstanding your response to Roxanne?

Highpockets,

Believe it or not, I get between 6.5 and 8 hours a night most nights. I'm rarely up past 9pm, 10pm at the very latest. 5am comes whether I want it to or not, so I learned not to fight it by trying to do too much in a day.

Highpockets,

Here are my centralized sound, scenery, and model folders. Put that together with my post to Roxanne-21.
