Bug Report

Unable to bring up GPS. Note that there is no entry in panel.cfg for GPS (as yet).

Unable to confirm operation of nav mode on autopilot without GPS and mini panel selection of GPS does not bring up GPS (not yet listed?) but all other functions such as kneeboard, ATC and Map.

Comment: Think the minipanel arrangement is actually very good solution to simulation control and activity and the compromises of full fidelity (lots of 3D gauge modelling etc) and is probably and for me as once becomes used to it, a very good arrangement and simulation solution, as the controls on the minipanels do what other crew members would do, not the Pilot Flying so the switches and clickable controls become not redundant but superflous. Most of the work in managing this aeroplane in flight from start to shutdown was done by the FE and I am not sure anyone wants to created a Flight Engineer station sim for an aircraft with as complex and critical engines and multiple advanced electrical systems, as Ernest Gann once described them, 'a mechanical monstrosity' requiring 3 people to fly them.

You can put GPS on KC-97 by yourself. It is not that difficult. There is no GSP on KC-97 for same reason there is none on DC-4 or DC-6 or DC-7 because GPS was not invented yet during the eras when those planes flew in real life however you can add GPS to KC-97 by yourself like I did for any old propeller plane. I even added GPS to Lancaster bombers!!

Aharon

Actually, in the case of the current "Beta" C-97, there is a GPS. The switch on the monitor brings it up.

For a quick and dirty vc light I used Manfred's C47 vc light. Add these lines to the Lights section of the aircraft.cfg:

light.6=4, 35.0, -1.65, 5.2, fx_c47_vclight
light.7=4, 35.0, 1.65, 5.2, fx_c47_vclight
light.8=4, 35.0, 0.00, 5.2, fx_c47_vclight

Controlled by Shift/ L

Roger,

I tried out your light suggestions. I guess the extra light entry's are suppose to bear light on the engineers panels but I'm not sure where else......

No they're just for the main panel but do shed a little light on the starboard engineer's panel. The illumination is quite narrow hence the three entries and of course you need the C47 effects. If it doesn't suit your needs then just delete the entries.

I do have the C-47 so I can benefit from the extra lighting entries. I // those entries out just to see what the difference would be. Now I can tell the before and after effects. I reinstated your light entries as
they make a little difference. Thanks :adoration:

I am collecting the files for Patch #1, which will include, among other things, Ted's smoke effect, some VC lighting, new altimeters, and Monitor > Avionics > ADF and Transponder. Some more testing to be done, I'll post here as soon as it's up. Meanwhile thanks all for tips and suggestions and words of encouragement. Much appreciated.

Not sure about this

Had a red banner come up yesterday, 'Warning - water methanol injection disengaged' - could not get rid of it by any means nor find a reason why it appeared. Model was being taxied for take off.

Also had a ASI failure indicative of no pitot heat, ala icing, but heat was on via the mini-panel and switching on and off made no change.

see picture below

That.s all.
