This picture was taken last Veterans Day at a ceremony honoring women who served.

Can anyone around here identify the organization that wears this style red hat? The rest of the uni includes red blazer, white slacks and white shoes? The hat is kinda unique but no matter how many different ways I try to describe it and Google it I get no joy.

This was taken at Arlington.

Thanks!

Thank you T_E,

I musty admit that when I first went to these links I wasn't sure if my leg was being pulled or what. But its for real. I'll be danged. Thanks very much.

Did you already know about the M.O.C or did you Google on something in particular to come up with it?

I will pass this along to mys sister. She was the one who first pointed out the hats to me and got me wondering what organization these guys represented.

PS: Yes, I echo Blood_Hawk23: Awesome work, T_E! Thanks again. I swear I spent more time last night than I care to mention trying to find out what was uop with these hats!

PS: Let this be a lesson. When all else fails, ask the guys here at the outhouse!

I spent an hour looking up Women Veteran groups. I didn't realize it was part of the VFW.

Glad you found the info helpful.

First I did a search for "Veterans Day Ceremony Pointed Red Hat", then "Veterans Pointed Red Hat", then "Veterans Hat".

That led me to the first link, then I did a search for "Veterans Cooties" and that led me to the other links.

Many of the VSOs Veteran's Service Organizations have "auxiliaries" for the "elite members" of their organization. The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) have the "Cooties," and the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) have the "National Order of the Trench Rats. The NOTR members wear a fez of different colors depending on position within the organization. I am proud to be a "Rat" for 3 years now.

@The_Editor: I never did a "veterans red hats" or "veterans hat". I did "veterans organization uniforms" and lots of different combinations for red hats, and sideways pointed red hats, and veterans and service organization uniforms", etc, etc. But never hit on that. What I was hoping to find was a site exactly like the one you came up with that had a gallery of the different uniforms and head gear.
Cheers.

@Shadow Wolf 07: Thanks for that info. You should be proud. I was totally unaware of these organizations but am really glad to have found out more about them. As I grow older I think more and more about joining my local VFW Chapter and this has got me thinking about it some more.

Thanks for the help everybody.
