P-40

There are two good ones on the market. How can I choose?

There's also the Iris freeware P-40E. It's a bit dated now compared the A2A & FR models, but it's an alternative.

I know which one I like the most. Nothing against the quality of Flight Replicas E model, I just really like the B-C models.

Cees,

To be honest; until you asked the question I never thought about which one I like most. I have the WOPII P40B/C or Tomahawk , which is the pre-accusim version, which most probably not available anymore. The model is great and I like it a lot. I wasn't pleased by the pilot, so I replaced the textures with the pilot textures from the P-47.
When you like A2A/Shockwave models, you will like this one. Highly detailed textures and nice to fly.

I also have the Flight Replica P40 package, which depict the N model which was one of the last from the line. The model is a a typical Flight Replica model. Pure eye candy and a challenge to fly it by the book.

As the model are both top league, but depicting totally different models they can hardly be compared. For me its comparing apples with oranges. But when I compare the time I have flown in both models, the A2A one is the winner. Not because I prefer the flight model better, but simply because I'm a repainter and the A2A version was much easier to repaint.

For us Dutchies an extra feature of the N model is that is has been used by the Netherlands East Indies Air Force. Mike has included a nice bare metal version and when you decide to purchase the model you will get the green one free from me.

But the choice is yours and as said I enjoy both.

Good luck with your choice!

The Flight Replicas offering is OUTSTANDING..

A few little FDE issues for me, but otherwise an exceptional add-on.

Well I bought the FR ( but in the end the A2A version will end up on my harddisc too!), but as a result of that I couldn't resist the FR Me-109 K4. Owwww.

When matching a model's qualities to a specific variant, you won't find a more accurate visual model than the Flight Replicas P-40N - built using the original Curtiss blueprint drawings.

That's a really impressive model.

I'm on my way to take delivery on a P-38 at the moment but I get the feeling that I'm going to be adding this one to the P-40B/C that's already in my hangar.

Just picked up the FR P-40N (Early) version. Nice! Sorry I waited so long! Getting out the paint brushed now!

I shoehorned John's Lulu Belle onto the later model a while back but I feel guilty for doing so (it should be on the birdcage). Perhaps I'll pick the early version up next time it's in a sale. I have the old Iris freeware model too which I'm almost embarrassed to say I fly as much:mixed-smiley-010:

I simply have to follow the .. most off you guys .. I have both , you simply cannot go wrong .. With Warren Denholm re-building the early P-40 A2As , Wigram's RNZAF later variant .. now completed and on display plus the two that frequent the skies it was a no brainier , buy Flight Replicas as well and the full package , every variant you cannot go wrong :encouragement:

To be quit honest I bought the early version because it was the closest I could get to (the look of) an "E"! You'll probably some -N1's disguised as E's from my paint shop!
