JF F27 released! (29th April)

... just a little tweak with the 'Godwit' logo as they were a circle

Thanks for applying your expert eye, mate!
Initially I thought it was a matter of perspective, since this bird was sticked to the tail textures actually in a circle:

But the screeshot in fact reveals some distorsion to the length:

So obviously the textures do get a little stretched when wrapped around the model (about 105%). Not too hard to compensate this:

Additional thanks go to Bazzar for solving the aerial issue (didn't have a clue where those textures were located)!
May I presume that the fin-shaped (UHF?) antennae fairings won't get overpainted, thus bearing a natural plastic white-greyish shade, whilst the towel-bar (NDB?) aerials could receive some paint?

Cheers,
Markus.

Are you planning to do more NZ repaints?

Thank you!

Currently in the works are these:

ZK-BXF 'Karuwai' in its 1971 livery, reference image here: http://www.airliners.net/photo/NAC-...32080/L/&sid=66277a1b7b776f9eb6e3307ac77b6bea

ZK-NAH (don't bother the wrong rego, early WIP status) in the 1980 NAC/ANZ transition scheme, template here: http://w.aussieairliners.org/f-27os/new zealand/zknah.html

Probably more to follow, maybe bearing a Mount Cook Lily ...

Cheers,
Markus.

Beautiful! I used to fly as a passenger in all these NZ F27s in my younger days, and I have fond memories of being in the F27. The one I liked most was the NAC red and white colors. The Mount Cook F27 was one of a kind as Mount Cook used HS748s.

... as Mount Cook used HS748s.

Yep - I'm still quite familiar with those, as I did the repaint on Rick Piper's awesome 'Screaming Hawker' some moons ago...:

(FS9 version, but works fine with FSX)

The Aeroplane Heaven / JustFlight F-27 is such a delight, both on flying and painting (maybe adding a mesh layer to the paint kit could be handy), and having spent lots of hours with the 748, everything in the Friendship seems quite acquainted to me.

Currently, there's just one major issue deterring me from releasing those repaints:
The texture's quite large resolution allows readable detail lettering, and I still couldn't figure out the text on those engine access (fire extinguisher?) panels on the nacelles:

Maybe some of the F-27 buffs aboard could help me out...?

Edit
@ Ian:
Sure my parents would have told me that, but as things increasingly got messed up around here, maybe one day you could support me in acquiring the NZ citizenship? :wiggle:

Cheers,
Markus.

Buddy , I'll go thru my references in the morrow morning - targeting those specific details and see what I come up with :encouragement:

I'm very sure the Ferrymead Museum would love your 'Choo Choo' train knowledge in Christchurch or even better to drive a KA/KB class , or MOTAT in Auckland .. but there bloody housing up there is/has gone mental in pricing just stupid .. course you could go south to the area off the Famed "Kingston Flyer' in mid Otago .

Found this over at Flightsim.com late yesterday. NICE!!!

The only major issue with that repaint is that the author apparently bathed the Friendship_Nacelles_t.dds texture almost entirely black (which includes the prop texture) and as a result, the prop is blacked out when it should be the standard color. It's easy enough to fix (which I did as a temporary measure) until I can bring it to the author's attention.

Aerial textures

Antennas are located as in the screenshot.

Well, as far as I've tried out, the depicted area where the antennae pick their textures from is also used for the left-hand's cabin roof.
So if I paint the bottom aerials to match the fuselage's belly colour, I'll end up with a chunk of cabin top showing the same shade, which doesn't look too smart...

That's a real bummer, since there are several areas left on the texture map to pick the aerial textures from instead... :a1451:

Cheers,
Markus.

Smoky or not smoky

Hello Folks,
This little F27 is not that bad, even some with:encouragement:
Some regrets, a cargo version with some carts around the plane while at an airport and the smoke effect on take off.
Anybody already tried to add the smoke effect into the cfg ? This plane desserve a little smoke, don't you think ?
Congrats to team who create this F27.
Thank in advance.
