Dasuto,

A while back I started creating carrier air wing repaints (check out my Ranger & Lexington I skinpacks) for the OH stockers, but lost interest when there wasn't much feedback.

I did do some Midway period skins at that time (not a very colourful period for markings) but never uploaded them ...

I also did some skins for the OH_F4F4 but skipped through the Midway period to Enterprise's air wing during Watchtower instead, & this skinpack is in the library.

Maybe I can revisit this...

I have you Lexington Air Wing skin pack, plan to use it soon. Thanks much. I have a TBD Midway skin save(believe it is yours, have yet to unzip it) .Just in need of the F4F. I assume the SBD Midway skin is in the lib as well?

Hi Dasuto,

I'm afraid I just uploaded the Marine Corps SBDs. Similarly, I uploaded a VF-8 skin for the Donationware F4F-4, but not the OH Stocker.

I guess I need to revisit the files & see what can easily be put together that would help you out.

Hi dasuto247,

You can download a midway skin for the stock/OH F4 Wildcat here. Search under "Smashing Time", he has done a lot of great skins for CFS2. After you get that download serch "Kelticheart", he has added a de-mirrored set of textures to Smashing Time's work. They look great. Both are here at the OH.

Historically accurate repaints for the US Navy airgroups and IJNAF Kokkutais involved in the Midway confrontation will always be more than welcome! :jump:

Other than the old, yet still beautiful, historical repaints created by Smashing Time for the stock A6M2, D3A1, B5N2, F4F-4, SBD-3, TBD and TBF, I am not aware of many stocker repaint packs dedicated to the Coral Sea/ Midway period.
Smashing Time's repaints were done for the stock, mirrored models, forcing inaccurate markings to circumvent the mirrored textures problem. I only demirrored a few of them, without being able to add accurate squadron markings and such, for lack of painting skills and good references.

I am sure some new skins for the stock models, overhauled and demirrored by The B24Guy, will be highly appreciated.... At least by me.....:redface-new: :very_drunk:

Cheers!

John,

I agree. Any new skins, especially historically accurate ones, are always welcome. :biggrin-new:

I hope you will, would be much appreciated.I hoped to have my Midway missions complete by June 4 of this year, but did not happen.Definitely would like to have accurate skins for time period.

Very nice work, thank you.

aw shucks, now you're making me blush :tickled_pink:

To be honest, I don't think MS gets enough credit for the stock paints. They are incredibly detailed & nuanced, & so with a bit of work they make excellent monocolour canvasses.

You'll also notice with these bitmaps that I used a lot of Smashing Time's paintwork for those smaller interior details he added to the stock paints. Much kudos to another pioneer...

Currently taking a rest from US carrier paints (though I do have the Hornet, & early Enterprise sets pretty much done). Currently revisiting the Jap stockers, maybe there's a similar thing to be done with their carrier airgroups ... Let's see how I get on.
