....only sent that as a reminder as it does come from waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back, but sometimes people overlook\forget the obvious things.
As a side thought, does anyone know if there is a limit on planes in Free Flight? I have a bunch that won't show up and some of the SP's are in it.
Hi Fibber,
yes you're right. As to FF, isn't it the same obnoxious 100, more or less, limit per installed airplanes? You should also get that nonsensical message saying that
"so and so is corrupted. Can't load Quick Combat mission." or something similar. Obviously something like "
Hey, dude, your hangar just ran out of parking space. Get rid of some airplanes, you knucklehead!", which tells more precisely what's going than the previous one, couldn't be thought of.
If you don't get the reached limit error message, then you and Kdriver must be sharing the same aircraft-eating bug!.......
Seriously, if you don't get any system error message, just a bunch of no-shows, my best bet would be checking all of the aircraft.cfg involved. Check the following:
[fltsim.0]
title=FM-2 Wildcat
sim=fm2_wildcat <------------- does this match
fm2_wildcat.air and
fm2_wildcat.dp?
model= <---------------- perhaps the model folder has an extension that should be entered here too (ex.: /model
.1)?
panel= <---------------- perhaps the panel folder has an extension that should be entered here too?
sound=2 <---------------- perhaps this sound folder does not exist?
texture=marianas <---------- perhaps this texture folder was deleted (
/texture.marianas) and now you only have /texture in your Wildcat folder?
I had that no-show happening to me several times, usually when I did some update or cleanup and I forgot to check if the above aircraft.cfg entries still matched the new situation.
Surplus airplanes can be temporarily turned off by placing a semicolon or a double slash (//) in front of those entries like this:
//[fltsim.0]
//title=FM-2 Wildcat
//sim=fm2_wildcat
or:
;model=
;panel=
;sound=
;texture=
In this way CFS2 will ignore them. I happened to forget I had turned off some airplanes and
later wondered why they wouldn't show up!
All of the above are the only things, I can think of, that might be causing your no-shows.
Cheers!
