Best classic airliner for FSX?

Thanks guys for the suggestions, all quality aircraft. Of course, I'm a fan of commuters and propliners as well. Ended up buying the A2A B377 which I will use mostly for relaxation flights in beautiful scenery areas (although this prop seems to not give me any more rest than in the Tu-154s :very_drunk:), and the captain sim 727. I will also look into the DC9. Yes... Tu-154, 727 and DC9 too similar to each other :biggrin-new:

I love Captain Sim's 727 series...

Me too! And yesterday, Captain Sim released the 2.5 service pack, with Steam and P3D support... Quite a surprise after all these years...

Ansett repaint and Dubbo scenery from aussiex.org.

For something truly different AND classic, fly the airliner that reigned most numerous with the largest airline fleet in the world- the An-2. SIMPLY STUNNINGLY SUPERB from Sibwings.

Best- C

It was certainly a surprise to me too. I enjoyed the 727, and downloaded it last night. Have not installed the update yet, but am looking forward to see what improvements I experience.

Thanks for the heads-up.

Just a word of caution. I installed the 2.5 service pack and it is totally borked in my FSX Accel. FSX hangs forever as soon as I load the aircraft. At least one other user on the CS forum is having the same experience. So, back up before you install. The installer modifies the dll.xml, so back that up too.... just in case! I went back to 2.4. It was a little bit of effort because the installer changes the sound gauge dll.xml entries for ALL the CS aircraft.

I hope you all have better luck than me.

Thanks, I had much better luck.
The update worked seamlessly.
Just for good measure, first I installed version 2.4
again, over the existing one.
Then
1. Uninstall aircraft using the Control
Panel\Programs and Features uninstaller.
2. Run CCleaner, one registry entry removed.
3. Install version 2.5

Nick.

I was really interested in the Captain Sim 777 but after reading the reviews about all the problems I am now not so sure. Does anyone know if they ever corrected the problems with that plane?

As for classic airliners I think if I could take only one to that deserted island it would be the A2A B-377.

Most bugs/complaints, if not all, were addressed with Service Pack 1.6 back in March 2015. SP 1.7 is due next August, and should fix what's left. But a 777 really doesn't qualify as a "classic airliner" to me, and as with most "glass cockpit" kind of arcraft, you need a powerful rig to really enjoy it. But I like it all the same, she's beautiful inside and out.

The Captain Sim L1011, that's another story. It's a truly classic airliner, and CS did an excellent job. No FPS issues, very few or no bugs since day one, etc...

I hope that's classic enough for this thread!

Ok this thread has me looking at classic jet airliners and Capt Sim in particular. Of all the Capt Sim classic which would be considered the best or first to buy? I have been really looking over the 707 because it just has that classic four engine look plus a retro weather radar that so cool.

So what is the one to get and with the least problems? They seem to be having a sale or is that their regular way of pricing in their store (Store exclusive 59.99e down to 29.99e) need to know if this is a sale and if so when is it over as they don't really say on the site.

Now what was the tv show about stewardess,,Ah yes Pan Am. And what did they fly? 707 ?

Thanks but their demos are just the airplane with no animations or working systems. Just a static model so you see the model detail and textures. I was hoping for some input from those that have CS Classics that would tell how they fly, frame rates, systems and anything else that would help.

A few days ago, you got a lot of input about the CS 707 in another thread. Did you forget that.:teapot:

I only have the 727 and its not installed. The new patch makes it interesting and I might install it again one day when I´m in the mood for an AC like that one. When it came out and with the first patches included, it was a very pretty and buggy experience with the worst elevator trim I´ve ever tried.
