A Lockheed "Rounder"

Oh my Gosh! The Harpoon interior looks outright spectacular! What a great job! :applause::applause:

Looking forward to the beta model.

KLM Texture problem

Hi Maarten,

I have installed your beautiful KLM Paint, but I see almost black engine textures. All the rest of the KLM paint is perfect. I checked, and I am using the version 1.41 model L18W, and your repaint as downloaded. What can be wrong??

Best regards,

Bill

Bill,

There was a change regarding the texture parts.bmp. It is replaced by parts_t.bmp.

EDIT: Your issue is you do not have the correct model updates from v1.5.

This is the latest update for all the L-18's: http://www.sim-outhouse.net/downloads/SOHTeam/LodestarUpdates72815.zip

What I intend to do with the Harpoon Beta v1.0 release is just put out one model that essentially has everything incorporated that needs to be tested for the PV-2C model.
Once we shake that down, then I will put out a full package beta; it's very large so hopefully the first beta will find anything that needs fixing and I can carry that over to all the other variants.

This package should run along side any WIP Harpoon package you may have.

I will upload this v1.0 Saturday late or Sunday early. It will be an open beta but I would like you to go over everything with a fine toothed comb, inside out, day, night, dawn, and dusk, all weather.

Question, do you want the VC Rain in this model. In the past, many people do not like it as it causes their systems or FS to stutter as it renders those moving raindrops in the VC. As a result, I have not put it in the Harpoon series.

I have the basic package ready but must add gauge back-lighting bmps before I am done.

Vc rain in harpoon

Milton, Firstly, very many thanks for your sterling efforts in bringing your 'stable' of great a/c models to final fruition. Any a/c from your hands (supplemented and polished by the sounds and amazing textures and skins contributed by other equally gifted artists) are always top of my go to fly and enjoy list. The parts all contribute to that slippery feel of realism we are all aiming to enjoy in our digital and virtual world. Your comments on the use of the rain effect whilst in the VC are taken, but, from a personal view I like the additional realism of this effect when landing. If I am in the minority, so be it, but I have had my say. Thanks again Milton and all you others. Mal

Hi Bill,

Thank you very much for downloading the KLM paint and for your flattering words.
I am glad that Milton was (as usual) lightning fast in coming to help. (thank you, Sir Milton! :) ) To be honest, I got a little confused myself with the updates. :dizzy: For that reason alone it has been a very good idea of you to put your question here in this thread.

Cheers,
Maarten

Awesome work Firekitten, now I know why she hasn't been seen here for a little while......been busy in the background!

Milton,
i would like the vc rain, but would it be possible to have two of each, one for those who want it and the other who don't want it? If it's too much, I understand, not a problem.

Combat night lighting? :D

I think I have an issue with my FS9 rendering at night being way to bright. FSX looks right in these same shots, same time, same model, same textures, but FS9 are all like there is a very strong moon lit night.

Any ideas what might be causing all my aircraft to show up very light at night? Could it be textures or envmap? This changed sometime over the last year.

Updated backlighting with some changes Milton wanted, and a high visibility white version for a civilian restored look... and easier to read than combat red.

I have a question regarding all of the L-18 models...
Whilst repainting, I noticed that the cockpit windows lose their opacity when the panel textures appear in 'spot view'.
I have tried every trick in the book to solve this problem, even with the old WIP panel textures, but without success.
Now I'm believing that this maybe an .mdl issue.
This also applies to the sun glass texture.
Does anybody have a solution?

IMO Stuart, this is a model issue as I see that as well with panels, overheads, and sunglasses, anything using transparency where there are multiple stacked objects with alpha channels and transparency.

It relates to transparency priorities in the model. Sometimes, you may also not see the gauges in spot view and sometimes only on some windows.

It's a pita to sort out but I will look at it.

IN FSX, it is less noticeable as the window glass is not perfect there for port overs especially with clouds and scenery that use alpha channels.

Amazing!

Since starting flight simulation flying I have been impressed by the skill and detail in the various aircraft. Today reading about the harpoon and other planes I saw the pictures submitted by Sgt. T. Now I am simply blown away! If the beautiful birds with their super detail come from sad pictures taken in a salvage yard you folks could raise the dead! BTW, I'm not dissing Sgt. T's pictures they are great and if there were any junk yards around here I'd happily climb around old aircraft to do the same or just for the fun of it.
