My two cents...
Thanks. Would you explain to fix this issue with the Wolfi Helldiver. When move fuel selector to wing tanks and thne back to internal, internal will empty and wing tanks seem unlimited. I think its in .cfg but no clue what to fix.
Hi dasuto247,
let me help you clarify how CFS2 allows carrying of droptanks among any aircraft payloads.
Droptanks are treated as payloads, I am sure you know about it very well, already. How do I add or change external droptanks?
As our friends suggested above, one needs to have droptanks listed in both dp and airfile. The airfile handles the total fuel capacity, even if the droptank own dp indicates lesser amounts. So, you have to edit the total capacity for each droptank (Left and Right) in the airfile. Normally, if you need to have a working ventral droptank, CFS2 assigns the Left droptank for all aircraft carrying a single, ventral droptank, like the stock Zero or the stock Hellcat. In the airfile they are all listed with their precise names, you can't confuse them with internal fuselage tanks.
Once you entered the desired total amount of fuel in the airfile, you need to add the droptanks in the aircraft dp file, if they are not listed already. They were enabled by your airfile entries and you can test them as follows. Stand on the runway, with your engine idling and switch from the main onboard tanks to each, or single, droptank. If the engine dies, something went wrong in the airfile entries and you should go back checking them.
Keep in mind the additional weight will influence, one way or another, your aircraft flight characteristics and handling.
One word about fuel tank switches.
There are very few fuel switches, accommodating all of the fuel tank arrays one can find in all aircraft models available. The stock ones are rather limiting.
This is why Mopar Mike created the MAPE fuel switch library, that I use regularly with no problems.

With MAPE fuel switch library, you will be able to manage individually a lot of fuel tank combinations and I modified all of my 2d panels to include a popup window with them. You can check how it works in some of my latest uploads of Italian WWII aircraft conversions.
If I may add a personal advice, since you are increasing wingtank capacities you should also hang a credible, larger droptank under the wings of your aircraft. I saw in the past mods meant to carry large amounts of fuel, over 150 gallons per droptank, for long escort missions, using P-40 52 gal. ventral tanks under the wings. Not too credible.
There are a number or larger tanks available for download, like the ones created for Malinowsky's P-47D series, or those for VB and/or Alphasim P-51D, or the ones made by Dbolt for his stock F4U1 overhaul. The latter, if you are modifying a naval aircraft like the TBM, wear also historical colours.
Please, I beg you: don't use Axis droptanks for Allied planes or viceversa! Even if they look fitting for their fuel capacity, it's a mistake I made too, several years ago. I assure you the result does not look good at all.
Cheers!
