Fokker D,VII Ernst Udet Jasta 4 1

This package contains a repaint for the FS2004 model of the Fokker D.VII by Stuart Green. The repaints shows one of the Fokker D.VII aircraft flown by the 62 victory German ace Ernst Udet.

Ernst Udet was known as a brilliant fighter and aerobatic pilot, a ladies man, an aircraft factory owner and film star. But he made a pact with the Nazis, and plunged into disaster. Celebrated as second highest scoring German ace of the first world war, with 62 confirmed victories, he started his own aircraft company after the war, became a stunt pilot and playboy during the armistice. When the Nazis came into power he joined the NSDAP and returned to the Luftwaffe on request of his friend Hermann Göring. However he was absolutely the wrong man for the tasks given to him. After the battle of Britain was lost, he was made scapegoat. And when operation Barbarossa took off in 1941, Udet was still not able to sort out the production of German aircraft. The pressure became too much and he committed suicide on the 17 November 1941.

His fighters during the first world war carried the name “Lo” on the fuselage, which was the short name of his childhood-love Eleonor “Lolo” Zinc. They married after the war in February 1920, but the marriage didn’t even last 3 years. And they divorced already in February 1923 again. Eleonor Zinc remarried, but died in April 1947, only 50 years old.

I want to thank Stuart Green for this beautiful and timeless model and making it available for us less talented. I want to thank the members in the FS2004 forum at Sim-Outhouse or their encouraging words, in particular Martin Klein for testing similar textures at the CFS2 model. And finally I want to thank Martin Wright for his graphic tools which were used intensively to convert these textures.

Enjoy,
