This is an authorized stand alone release of Steve Seybolt's Heldiver in French Naval colors made at the request of Led Zeppelin. The French Aeronavale used the Helldiver (SB2C-5 and -4) during the Indochina war and this one flew with the 3rd Flotille off the Arromanches (previously HMS Colissus) in 1954. They were temporarily land based at Cat-Bi near Haiphong and Bach-Mai near Hanoi for a period to reduce the flying time to Dien Bien Phu. In the 5-1/2 months leading up to the May surrender the Navy flew 1,267 sorties into the intense anti-aircraft fire ringing the valley. 48 aircraft were destroyed in the air, and 167 more were damaged.
In the spirit of my Ghost In The Machine series I've included a photo of the Landing Signal Officer (best friend of every naval aviator) from the Arromanches in the cockpit.
Intended for use with Rising Sun after the other Helldivers have been installed as it needs their shared files.
