A familiar livery for any modeller who ever picked up the Heller scale kit of the de Havilland Rapide, this repaint depicts G-ADBW, a former civilian Rapide impressed into Royal Air Force service and serving with the 6th Air Observer Navigation School between 1939 and 1940. This unit was based at RAF Shoreham at the outbreak of the Second World War, but was moved in October of 1939 to RAF Staverton.

G-ADBW (c/n 6288) was one of many civilian aircraft which was impressed into military service at the outbreak of World War II. A former Jersey Airways, Isle of Man Air Services, and Airwork Ltd aircraft, it served with the No. 6 Civil Air Navigation School, later the No. 6 Air Observers Navigation School at Shoreham and Staverton. Becoming Z7265 in July 1940, it went on to serve with the No. 7 AACU (Anti-Aircraft Co-Operation Unit) at Staverton, and the No. 8 AACU at Cardiff. G-ADBW/Z7265 was struck off charge on November 17th 1941.
