• There seems to be an up tick in Political commentary in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site we know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religiours commentary out of the fourms.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politicion will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment amoung members. It is a poison to the community. We apprciate compliance with the rules.

This file contains alternative textures in 1024x1024 32bits bmp format, for the Douglas P-70 A-2 Nighthawk by by Milton Shupe, Tom Falley, William Ellis, Roman Stoviak, GLH with original Pilot figures by Jan Visser and Bill Ortis (mod'd). These textures can only be used for the FS2004 version of this model.

Until the end of the war most P-70s served for night fighter training in mainland USA. Due to the lack of night fighters in the Pacific Area, 6th Night Fighter Squadron was deployed to the latter combat zone. Its particular detachments operated from Solomon Islands, New Guinea and even Australia. Except of night fighter missions these aircraft also flew day and night ground attacks and convoy escorts. Additional night fighter squadrons later deployed to this zone also fulfilled similar tasks.

P-70 No. 29-785, from 6th Night Fighter Squadron Detachment "A". New Guinea 1943. This aircraft was lost on October 30th during a cross country flight from Berry Drome, Port Moresby to Horanda Drome, Dobodure. The pilot 1st Lt Donald Hyland and his crew perished.

The "Hoot Owl" was the unofficial insignia of the 6th NFS from the introduction of the P-70 until the end of war. It was personally designed for the squadron by Walt Disney.

The files didn't harm me, nor my wife, nor my computer, but use is, as most things in life, at your own risk.

Enjoy,
