• There seems to be an up tick in Political commentary in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site we know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religiours commentary out of the fourms.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politicion will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment amoung members. It is a poison to the community. We apprciate compliance with the rules.

FS9 Textures for the Grumman E-1B Tracer by Milton Shupe. This one has a bit of history. Depicted is an aircraft of VAW-111 which was only one of 2 E-1B's aboard USS Hornet on the Apollo 11 recovery mission, July 1969. Both E-1s aboard Hornet that day were a detachment of VAW-111. The pilot of this particular aircraft was Lt. Jim Dickson. Their mission: patrol the location designated to be the estiamted splash down area of the capsule; locate and track the capsule upon re-entry; establish communications with the capsule and relay to Houston and Hornet; and direct recovery aircraft in and out of the area. Lt. Dickson was the first to speak to Neil Armstrong after the capsule emerged from the re-entry communication blackout. And the rest, they say, "...is history!"
