P-40N No.17, SN 2105711, 502nd FS, 337th FG, Fall, 1943. This particular aircraft was used by Army Pilot Class 43-K, then undergoing flight training at Napier Field, Alabama, 1943. Napier Field is now used as the municipal airport for Dothan, Alabama. Although the mascot for hte 502nd was a ROOSTER, they are more commonly known as the 'Parrotheads' beccause most people, like me, just cannot find a ROOSTER in that nose art!
