A skin for George Diemer's Goodyear ZNP-K blimp. This K-ship was flown by ZP-871, the Naval Air Reserve blimp squadron at NAS Oakland, California in the middle 1950s. After World War Two all of the Navy's blimps were home ported at NAS Lakehurst, as reflected by the station name painted on the lower fin. Most, probably all, Naval Reserve Air Bases had blimp squadrons, but they didn't own any blimps; they borrowed them from Lakehurst for drills. Though not the property of the reserves, blimps flown by the reserve squadrons frequently used envelopes with special Reserve markings, such as this one that was photographed over the University of California at Berkeley.
