Version 2: Updated OCT 2024

This is a collection of repaints for the P1Y1 Frances made by Daisuke Iga (A.K.A. daikie)/Kawauso Hermitage for CFS 2.

You can get the original aircraft from: http://www.kawausohermitage.sakura.ne.jp/Hanger/hanger_en.htm

The textures are:

J-P1-3 An evaluation aircraft of the IJN Air Technical Arsenal circa late '43
761-25 761 kokutai, March '45
762-92 "T" 762 Kokutai, May '45
21-205 521 kokutai, Guam, June '44

I've included a tweaked dp file that makes the AI gunnery less deadly & correct some MISC DATA kph errors, & added some kelti exhaust effects. Included is a WIN 7 safe 2D panel bitmap.

I also altered the air file & the aircraft.cfg MOI as I didn't like the tendency of the original to immediately use the vertical as a defensive measure (overly effective elevator control).
I further modified the airfile more extensively in 2024 in order to achieve the published data for speed, altitude & range.

This led me to question the payloads in the DP file, as the 600ltr droptanks would carry 2t of fuel, meaning they would take the aircraft way beyond it's MTOW if they were used in conjunction with bomb or torpedo warloads. Therefore I've assumed these tanks would be used for ferry or recon missions only. I replaced the 600ltr tanks with 200ltr tanks to provide Long-Range armed payloads, but have no reference for these tanks being used. The remainder of the payload choices are bombs or torpedo only.

I used MDLmat to tweak the model glossiness, & give the glass a blue-green shine. I also made the prop disk parts mostly transparent, as they were displaying as solid disks in the ground shadow for the original model. I used a hexeditor to enable VC view from the rear cockpit & added a simple bombsight to the panel.

As a final tweak, I also included an optional DP that uses Allen's JAP bombs to keep the number of active weapon packs down. I assume because of something in the model coding, any non-KW weapons don't show in the HUD, but they do show up on the model, & do drop as you would expect. Use with caution, as I've not tested this extensively.

To install, unzip the download to a temporary location & move/ copy files to the matching folder names inside your chosen CFS 2 install.

Thanks to

Igacci for an incredibly detailed, & unusual late-war aircraft.
Martin Wright for his many useful tools, in this case MDLmat allowed me to deshine the model & make the propdisks transparent.

This is freeware and subject to the usual conditions
