This repaint is for the freeware IRIS Simulations P-40 series for FS2004.
This P-40F-10 was flown by 1st Lt Douglas W. Ritchie of the 65th Fighter Squadron, 57rd Fighter Group out of Tunisia in 1942/43.
One of my good friends, Drew Farley, was Lt. Douglas Ritchie's nephew, his mother was Lt. Ritchie's sister. They grew up on Campbell Street in Danville, Virginia, so this paint has a personal interest.
On April 8, 1943 Lt. Rithie was among 5 fighter pilots lost by the 57th, while on a low-level support mission for the British army. First reported as KIA, he was later listed MIA and served the remaineder of the war at Stalag Luft 3 Sagen-Silesia Bavaria, which was later moved to Nuremburg-Langwasser. He returned after Allied occupation freed him in April 1945 to Danville, then took up residence in Dayton, Ohio, where he owned a furniture store.
