Thisis a repaint only for the SkyUnlimited Mustang Vol.1 release. This aircraft,owned by Max Chapman and based in Kissimme, Florida, started as a largecollection of P-51B/C parts. In 2000 the restoration began with PacificFighters of Idaho completing the work in May of 2004 when it then flew for thefirst time. The aircraft has been given the serial number 42-103293 andregistered N251MX. The most recent paint scheme and the scheme featured in thisrepaint is of the 31st Fighter Group's commander Charles McCorkle's airplane,"Betty Jane". The aircraft is finished very authentically, with abare metal fuselage and filled, sanded and painted wings. "BettyJane" won "Best P-51" at EAA Oshkosh in 2004. (2007-08-31 11:51:18)
