P-51D-20 44-72588 was assigned to 1Lts Edward J.Linfante and Darell S. Bash, of the 462nd FS/ 506th FG, Airfield no.3, Iwo Jima. Lt Linfante originally flew another aircraft, and named 616 for his fiance when he was assigned to the new aircraft. The victory flag was for Lt Bash, who shot down a Ki-61 'Tony' over Yokohama on 10 june 1945. Repaint of the Shockwave WWII Mustang by Jan Kees Blom, based on paintkit by John Terrell.
