This is a repaint only for the WOP P-51D and WWIIFighters P-51D. This aircraft, more recently purchased by Bill Wieman, beganwhat would be a benchmark restoration program in 1996 after Ken Wagnonpurchased what was a flyable but not very desireable Mustang. Wagnon's intentwas to restore the aircraft to be a virtual clone of the original "CripesA' Mighty", originaly flown by 352nd Fighter Group ace George Preddy justbefore losing his life in the Battle of the Buldge. Undertaking this enormoustask was Mike Vadeboncoeur and his Midwest Aero Restorations. With a mindblowing amount of research and detailing, the aircraft was restored inside andout, bringing each and every part back to factory specification or better. Whenthe aircraft first rolled out in 2002 it was unlike any previous Mustangrestoration and is a real, priceless treasure. (2007-09-05 11:20:25)
