Aircraft 91.394 was a Saab 91C that went to the Ethiopian Air Force in 1960, where it flew as number 141. In the late '90, she came to South Africa with about 16 other Safirs. A few were restored to flying condition, of which ZU-DES is one. She was restored by Des Nel (hence the registration) and has won several EAA South Africa awards for fine restoration and workmanship.
