Sikorsky S-58 XL722 was delivered to Westland Helicopters of Yeovil in 1956 for use as a pattern aircraft. Initially delivered with a Wright Cyclone Piston engine, This Aircraft was later re-engined with the Napier Gazelle Turboshaft engine in 1957 and became the prototype for what would go one to become the Westland Wessex. It is seen here in the markings worn during demonstration of the type to the UK Armed Forces in 1956.
