Project History
Well, here we are it is now late September 2026 and this package has sat on the hard drive for too many years. Time to get it out the door and into a few legacy Sim hold outs.
In the spring of 2011 several of us on the TeamSpeak 3 server were discussing creating a FSHost hop list that consisted of freeware carriers. The concept was to place carriers at various locations and have the FS Pilot in FS2004 see the same carrier as the FS Pilot in FSX. This launched an extensive search for the right carriers. Right from the start finding a good selection of freeware carriers modeled identically for FS2004 and FSX proved nearly impossible. Because this is to be a multiplayer environment the models needed to be as frame rate friendly as possible, this ruled out the better models.
What we ended up finding was Paul Clawson (PutPut) had modeled CV 3 Saratoga for both FS9 and FSX. While it worked well in both simulators, it was certainly was not the diversity we were looking for.
The good news is Paul had also created CV 1 Langley, CV 2 Lexington, and CVN 74 USS John C. Stennis for FS9. He also made CV 4 Ranger for FSX. This gave us hope that we could bring in additional models to our list giving us the diversity we hoped for.
To include all these models in both FS9 and FSX some remodeling was going to have to take place.
We contacted Paul and told him what we would like to do and we received his blessing to decompile CV 1, CV 2, CV 3, CV 4 and CVN 74 back into source code so they each one could be taken into the opposite simulator. His only request is the files need to remain Freeware.
After a lot of work and a substantial number of twists and turns it is finally finished.
