Supermarine Spitfire HF.VIII A58-603 RAAF Clark Field

A58-603 was originally allocated the RAF serial MT684 before being delivered to the RAAF in September 1944.

While serving with 457 Squadron, it was part of a group of 5 Spitfires and 2 Mosquitos to be deployed to Clark Field for performance evaluations against other allied and Japanese aircraft. For this purpose, the shark mouth and "Grey Nurse" script which often decorated the unit's aircraft were removed.

The aircraft crash landed at Labuan in September 1945 and was subsequently converted to components and written off.

Repaint of Paul Rebuffat's GMAX Spitfire Mk. VIII by Daniel Leahy using a template provided by Peter Haley.
