• There seems to be an up tick in Political commentary in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site we know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religiours commentary out of the fourms.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politicion will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment amoung members. It is a poison to the community. We apprciate compliance with the rules.

Following similar conversions of Taylorcraft TG-6 aircraft in America, the British Taylorcraft Aeroplanes company converted an Auster lll into the model 'H' glider. Sources differ here - it seems that a Taylorcraft model D fuselage was converted - maybe then fitted with Mk III wings c/w flaps ?.

This was intended for instructional duties at Army gliding schools as a primary trainer.

Whereas previous British training gliders had been specifically designed and built for the job, the model 'H' was an example of a converted powered light aircraft.

This was achieved by replacing the engine and cowl with a lengthened front containing a seat and controls etc. for a pupil pilot.

A slightly larger fin was fitted and the undercarriage shortened.

The prototype was first flown in July 1943. Although it was painted in trainer glider colours and with a 'P' on the fuselage, no other marking were evident.

There are no reliable records of any production quantities being built.

This aircraft is released as Freeware.
