This repaint of StuartGreen's SPAD VII belonged to Captain Thomas G. Cassady while serving with SPA 163 under the service of the USAS. Although Lafayette Flying Corps member Thomas G. Cassady was transferred to the USAS and commissioned a First Lieutenant in February 1918, he was assigned to French esquadrille SPA 163 from May until September 1918. During that time, he downed five enemy planes in this SPAD VII. He then moved on to the 28th Aero Squadron of the USAS as a Flight Leader flying SPAD XIII's, where he scored an additional four confirmed victories before war's end. Cassady later worked with the French Resistance and served with the Office of Strategic Services during World war II.
