Textures only for the WoP B-24D. It's not well known that the USMC during WWII flew large four engine bombers. Most people when thinking of USMC aviation in that conflict tend to focus on Marines operating Corsairs. While trying not to diminish those achievements, I would like to bring to light the lesser known facets of Marine aviation. The Corps operated these aircraft, B-24D's and J's obtained from the Army Air Corps, as Photo Recon birds. This particular aircraft, Bureau number 31958, was originally assigned the AAC serial number of 41-24118. It was accepted by the US Navy on 10 November 1942. An auspicious date for all Marines. Unfortunately this aircraft was lost with all hands on 7 Feb. 1943 during takeoff from Esperitu Santo. Repaint by John Detrick.
