Focke-Wulf built (second production batch) 190D9 W.Nr. 211115, Red 18 of I./EKG(J). EKG(J), Erganzung KampfGeschwader (Jagd) or "replenishment" squadron was an advanced flight training squadron (consisting of a variety of aircraft) whose main purpose was to convert bomber pilots (who were not needed in this role, at this stage of the war) into fighter pilots. Red 18 was found at the end of the war at Pilsen in the Czech Republic and had a few unusual markings. The overall scheme was a relatively standard 76/75/83 but with the following differences: the rear fuselage was covered in RLM 82 Lichtgrun and a RLM 81 mottled tail. The pale yellow fuselage band denoted the training squadron. The Gruppe bar was also unusual, being less "wavy" than normal. A personal emblem was very rare on a Fw190D, with the war situation precarious such ?luxuries? were unusual but not completely forgotten. This Dora has a stylised ?17? below the cockpit (meaning unknown).
