The FAM operate single squadron of P-47s in the Pacific. This P-47 was assigned to 20th Escuadron Aereo de Pelea which was attached to 58th FG, USAAF in the Philippines. Operated since May 1945. The Mexican AF insignia was carried opposite US insignia both upper and lower wings. Vertical green, white and red stripes were carried on the rudder. In November 1945 Mexican pilots returned to home, but Thunderbolts still at Philippines because they were given to Mexican under Lend-Lease program. However, 25 P-47s were later given to Mexico to replace them.
