For the Shockwave Bf 109E. Painted using ICDPs excellent template. This aircraft is unique in it being the first Bf 109 to be captured by the Allies in WWII. The first scheme is the original colours of Bf 109 E-3 WNr. 1304 that force landed near Woerth, Bass Rhin, on the 22/11/1939 12 miles on the French side of the border. White 1 of 1/JG76. Pilot was Feldwebel Karl Hier. Colours are fairly standard RLM 70/71/65 early war scheme. The second is as first tested by the French at Orleans - Bricy The original camouflage was retained with the addition of overpainted areas over the Balkenkreuze and Hakenkreuze. By comparing the tones with the known colours I believe this was probably done in standard French Air Force Brun Mat above and Gris Bleu Clair below the wings French Roundels were applied to the upper and lower wings also. The third is as partially repainted by the French when extensive flight testing was performed. Yellow ringed Roundels were added with what I believe was a yellow undersurface. The White 1 was repainted above the roundel on the fuselage The fourth was as tested by the British up until April 1942. The aircraft received an improved canopy and a new rear section from W.Nr 1980 or maybe 1480 after crash landing. It was given the serial AE479 It was overpainted in RAF Dark Earth and Dark Green on the upperwings, Trainer yellow undersurfaces. The fuselage was partially painted in Dark Earth, RLM 70 sections repainted and a RLM 71 patch below the cockpit. The emblem is unknown but I believe may have something to do with the next transfer to the USA. A gas detection paint diamond was applied to the port upper wing also. The final repaint is as possibly painted between April 1942 and November 1942 after being transferred to the USA and subsequently crash landed and then being disposed of. Unfortunately I have been unable to find a photo of this variant but base mine on similar captured 109s that were painted in the standard USAAF scheme of the time i.e. olive Drab and Neutral Grey. The EB-01 is fictional (EB-1 was applied to a Bf 109F)
