1 arc-second highres mesh for CBI scenario (FSX+P3D)

Sookerating

Hi Mark,
Thanks to your wonderful efforts, I have discovered the HUMP. The mesh seems perfect everywhere I have been but one. I don't know if this is an issue with CBIx1 or the mesh, but Sookerating has an elevated runway and taxiways, with large square depressions all around. In the past I have looked for duplicate .bgl files or a duplication of scenery, but this is a fresh install. What I suspect is the problem is on my end, I just don't where. Any ideas?

Keep up the great work, I look forward to the next up grade.

Cheers,
Henry

Hi Henry,

I'll check Sookerating, thanks for the notice. This is typical when a different mesh is set upon an existing scenery. I'm sure we can work something out.

Right now I'm working on Kunming, by the way. Thanks to some real good documentation and the help of Alex and Bill I can make a very authentic rendition of that central and quite complex airfield.

Cheers,
Mark

Thanks Alex, email sent.

Appreciate your efforts as well Mark. I hope to learn a lot more about scenery in this process.

Welcome, Henry. I'm sure that's an easy fix.

Here's the latest screenshot of the work on Kunming, just as a teaser:

Thanks Alex

My little elevation problem at Sookerating is now solved thanks to Alex's extraordinary efforts in the help department. Bill K had been kind to send me two replacement files, which I thought fixed the problem but didn't. I can now say to all that the CBI scenery and Mesh (Mark's) work in FSX, P3Dv1.4 and P3Dv2.4 While I doubt I have further glitches, I will keep in touch.

This is truly a magnifisent effort on the parts of Alex and Mark....please thank them for making the CBI airlift come to life.

Thanks guys.

Henry

In the meanwhile...

In the meanwhile, in Kunming / Yunnan province / China, a mechanic and a pilot relax in front of the AVG hangar.

Hi,

it's coming together nicely, Kunming development is at 70%, and Chungking airfield more or less done.

I want to make one more airfield, which will be the Myitkyina complex, to have a start / destination on the other side of the hump. Then it can be released. The immediate rest (say 2 or three airfields) can follow as updates.

Cheers,
Mark

Really looking forward to this Mark. Your work is amazing and inspiring for anyone that has done even a little scenery development. I am looking forward to great online sessions with our group crossing the Hump in C-47s.

Thanks for the kind words, Dimus. We're getting there. Right now I fight with the lighting effects on the field. I placed 20 Bartow-Type ww2 runway lights along the runway (according to an old airfield map), as well as flood lights at the ends and two ramp light towers on the apron. The lights work, but not as I want them to (visibility is not as far as I would prefer, the yellowish light turns white in the distance, and sometimes it doesn't work at all). Man, I hate that.

Cheers,
Mark

Hi Mark, Thanks for the incentive to "Fly the Hump"! I've been having a blast the last few days. :applause:
Of course I did run into a few mountains while using ASN RW weather! Instant whiteouts must have been a real issue for those pilots.

Anywhoo, I've got enough juice in my system to max my scenery sliders, and, with my mesh resolution at max I have a pair of parallel "walls" at the South East side of ZPJH Gasa.
I can minimize it by going to 76m resolution, but, I really like the high res mountains. Not a deal breaker by any means! I just take off from Rwy 34. lol...Don

Hehe, thanks for the notice, Don, I put it on my list for fixing the mesh.
I also found a few spikes about half way in the maointain range between Chunging and Kunming. I ran into one of them while flying on instruments in the clouds. Doh!

Cheers,
Mark
