2009 in photos

Bjoern~ Some of these pictures were already posted not too long ago, HOWEVER, I appreciate seeing them again. So much beauty & tragedy are depicted in these photographs. They certainly pull at one's heartstrings. I love the pictures showing raw emotions, unrehearsed, just there for the world to see.

Thank you Bjoern!

Fire, water, misery...
These pictures seem to reflect more of these than usual?
Usually the Year in Pictures has a lot more triumphant shots in there too.
Even Lance Armstrong (who didn't win) looks gritty, and the Cheese-roller ended up in hospital.

They are just quite stunning photographs, thanks Bjoern.

It would take a book for me to write about my association with Lance Armstrong, which began in 1989, when he was a lanky, brash 18-year-old US national rider. He is truly one of the world's heroes that I know on a personal basis. Since I cannot talk politics outside the Cantina, I shall just say we have the same POVs.

Watch Lance next year. I hope he incurs no injuries along the way in training and the Spring Classics. I feel this is his swan song year and he has something to prove. But he has to prove it against yet another Spanish rider in a league of his own and that would be Contador. I have no doubts that had Lance not waited for Kloden this past year on that mountain stage, he would have been second on the podium.

Wow. I didn't hear about the Rocky Mountain News in Denver closing down. Growing up in Colorado, it was already over a 100 years old then. One of the first newspapers in Colorado. Saddening to hear it is gone now.

Really some amazing shots. I know this had been posted before, but I noticed a whole lot more added since that previous time. Time keeps marching on.
