2012 Cape-to-Cape - Jeff - Modern Era PC-12

Uh... Jeff.. You are aware that the Modern era race ends at Honningsvåg Valen, Norway (ENHV), not Hammerfest?

Possible divert?

Thanks for your concern Willy. That's what I really like about this community, we watch out for each other and help when we see something going wrong.
In this case all is going to plan. Penultimate means "next to last", my final leg will be ENHF-ENHV.

Leg #15. My FSX application just exited without warning while enroute and the duenna reported disconnection from flightsim. It is some kind of computer glitch.

I am unsure how to proceed or record this event. Is this a "real life event" or does it count as a crash? A decision from the Miss Nellie's is requested.

Ok, found the relevant portion of the rules:

Crashes on takeoff do not count. Pilots simply declare the event, and then begin again without affecting their logbook. Crashes due to computer failure are similarly declared, restarted, and of-ficially ignored.

Once again the SOH spring event delivers. I have had a terrific time flying this route. I know that I took the easy Modern Era option as opposed to the far more challenging Golden Age event but I have really enjoyed the flying. After Kinshasa I really worked on flying as close my pre-planned time marks as possible and I got better at it with each successive leg. Weather was never a problem for me but winds did effect me on a couple of legs. I have enjoyed watching everyones progress. Starting tomorrow I will be on vacation w/o internet but look forward to catching up with everyone in a week or so when I return.

Off to spend a week on the Friendly Island.

Congratulations on finishing! Now I see why you were going through it so quickly. And 4 seconds difference is going to be hard to beat for the precision race. Enjoy your vacation! I hope I'll be finished by the time you get back.

Superb run, Jeff.

And best wishes on your getting away from it all. (St. Maarten, one might guess?) Look forward to your return.

Yes Mike, St Martin (we'll be staying on the French side). Just got a call from my brother who has established our beachhead. He called from the balcony shown in the pic.
