This will be the third time I have replied to this thread, first being when P first posted it. Computer locked up the first two times, right after I had everything typed and ready to send, just frustrating!
I like bringing back brand loyalty with something that resembles what one buys on the showroom floor and hope Chevy, Dodge, and Toyota follow suit. And I hope NASCAR lets them! But it still will not be ol' timey stock car racin'. On the Ozzies and Europeans have that now.

Perhaps this could be a case of "Ford Confusion" ................ maybe?
Whatever, it's really a Ford 'Europe' Mondeo, available with 4 inline or a [very nice] V6, no V8 listed, and all are 'Made in Belgium' last time I looked.
The base platform is the Ford 'Europe' Focus.
Had a good look at the top of the line Mondeo Titanium V6, even took one out for a tester.
Really nice car, but really expensive for a 'Ford'.
No 'Ford' in my future for now!

The manufacturers and fans have always wanted product identity. It's NASCAR that made all the cars look alike in their own self interest. It's much easier to keep the teams equal with identical cars. But now that profits have fallen way off they are receptive to the fans and manufaturers again, at least until the profits go back up!

No, we'll never again see cars like that in NASCAR, but the days of MOPAR and Ford having special cars and hemi engines was something else. Chrysler 426 Hemi, Ford 427 SOHC, Ford 429 Boss were incredible engines in their time. They were also incredibly heavy and today, teams are getting the same power from 350 - 357 cubic inch engines and using much lighter materials. Still... to see a 426 Hemi or 429 Boss engine is something to behold.
