2026 Resource Download limits

Hace falta ser una persona realmente despreciable y mezquina para intentar perjudicar a todos los demás en este grupo.
Animo al resto del grupo a que continúe así. Con mi más sincero respeto y mis mejores deseos.
Espero no tener que publicar algo cada vez que quiera descargar algún archivo.

Due to the number of mass download attempts recently we can only assume that somebody, somewhere, is attempting to stock up a new file library with our files and we owe it to our up-loaders to protect their files and intellectual property especially as many (like my own LDR Development projects) are made available at SOH only and are specified as such in the 'read me' files.

The forums and Resource Library will be taken offline as of 13:00 EDT with the forums coming back online shortly after without the resources library while we work on setting up permissions on the new Library module.

We hope our members understand why we need to do this and will bear with us while we implement the changes.

I also think that a 60-second waiting time for each file download is simply too long!
Could we please agree on a shorter waiting time of 20–30 seconds? That should still be plenty…

You do realise that all of the contributors are paying for the bandwidth?

In this day and age we (the staff) have to deal with bots, spammers and the likes just to keep the site up and running.

In my humble opinion, people who are here just to mass-download are not really needed. SOH is a community, not a provider.

I am in no way only here to mass download… that was never one of my goals… allthough, the waiting time for downloads seems a little long for me with 60’ for each file… I do accept that you’ve got to deal with those Bots and Spammers… indeed and that’s a thing i don’t take for granted… i am very appreciative that the Stuff of this site deals with them in that way…

Allthough SOH is a community and not a provider which is clear to me i just wanted to know if theres any way in which the staff can grant the trustworthy Members here a lower waiting time count or if that is not possible.

Simply put no. This function does more than you understand when it comes to preventing the server from being overloaded.

Technically this is something we had in place in the old .com server under the vBulletin software so it is not technically new.
