I don't suppose anyone has any idea how to counteract additional stuttering and occasional lockups resulting from a greater LOD distance? >.<

What are your specs? Keep in mind when running a high LOD with super resolution textures you are forcing your video card to load much more data than would be normal, so you will need lots of video memory headroom. That texture set is nearly 1GB, so even if you are only loading 1/4 of the scenery in the highest LOD that's 250MB of data. Are you using supersample AA? That takes a lot of texture memory, so try going to 4x multisampling, and if using 4096 clouds drop those to 1024 and see what happens.

@ Bob, great shot!

Actually using 8xQ AA and 4096 clouds, but dropping them does not make any difference.

My setup is btw..
GeForce GTX 280
Intel C2D E6700 OC'ed @ 3ghz
2gb Kingston HyperX 800mhz DDR2(Until i get my 2x2gb 1066mhz OCZ reaper's RMA'd)
And a samsung spinpoint F1 250gb dedicated completely to FSX
Windows XP Pro SP3, 32-bit.

Until i find a better solution ive dropped back autogen density to Normal instead of dense.

Hey Alex, you might also drop your targeted FPS if you're running with a locked frame-rate. On my PC, I found with FSX that if I dropped the target frame rate a bit, it smooths out my stutters when using a heavy scenery or aircraft.

Question guys....is this a new release? I have many of Frank's releases per territories within the Alps, but did not see a general 'Alps scenery' discussed on his blog.
