3 openings at Oakland (CA) TV station

Just heard the Oakland (CA) TV station that allowed the reading of those four names pertaining to the crash at San Francisco International Apt has fired three producers responsible for the gaffe. They were let go last Saturday. :mixedsmi:

Wonder if the person that cleared the list at the NTSB was summarily let go as well? As reported, the NTSB gave the okay when it was contacted prior to airing the names.

I heard it was an NTSB intern. So the person that gave an intern that responsibility should answer for it.

That intern was fired two days afterwards, according to a press release from the NTSB.

Concur in letting the full-time sponsor of the intern get some unpaid time off, at least. The intern couldn't care less, they'll just get something else in the govt - but that sponsor is responsible for everything that intern does, and, consequently, should walk the plank as well.

Lots of unanswered questions.

How did the intern identify them self to the media, did the reporter speaking to the intern as them to identify their position to determine whether they were a creditable source?

Was the intern authorized to speak to the media and provide them information?

Doesn't anyone proof read at the station?

At lest one of the three producers found work at ESPN....

..Yes, that ESPN screenshot really does list Nagiru Hiramatsu's favorite singer as "Wandai Wrection." If you've never heard of Mr. Wrection, well, it's because he actually doesn't exist.
On the other hand, One Direction is an actual band made up of actual English and Irish boys. You may have also never heard of it, but rest assured that it does exist and it was presumably the group that Hiramatsu named in a heavy accent to some poor sap ESPN producer who then took a guess at his or her own spelling without asking the Japanese teenager to clarify...
