300 Ford Tri-Motor Textures - self installer program.

Hi Good Simmers,

OK SOH forum patrons are the first to know:wiggle: I have created a download self installer which contains all 300 Ford Tri-Motor liveries/textures.

For those that do not know what this project entails then have a look at this slideshow (safe to run)
http://www.gjsmith.net/public/SlideShows/Ford_Tri_Motors.html

I have started off with a LITE version which has the DAMAGE files removed and the aircraft.cfg had Visual_Damage turned off. This reduces the download dramatically and reduces the load on your system. Still includes all of the liveries available.

It is in a zip format which has an executable file inside - after download, double click on the exe inside of the zip and it will install a new aircraft directory called Ford_Trimotor-ECM-GJS - almost a complete aircraft but you will have to copy a few files into the new directory from your Default Ford_Trimotor aircraft. This is because I cannot breach copyright and include the Microsoft aircraft within my download. Sorry.

This is, I believe the largest collection of liveries for one aircraft developed by one painter - got to be some sort of record.

To get hold of this download - simply surf to http://www.gjsmith.net Click on the Catalogue button - scroll down to the Ford, click on Goto Aircraft and away you go - download to your hearts content.

Feedback and critiques are welcome. Hard weekend getting this all fine tuned and ready for you all so I hope you all enjoy the results and the liveries.

Regards and happy simming.

Sometime last spring I was lamenting the few repaints that had ever been issued for the Trimotor since FS9 hit the shelves. It's one on my (more) favorite aircraft in flightsim. Then Garry Smith issued a few repaints at the behest of Ed Moore.

...And then a few more.

...And then a torrent....seemingly unending. I watched this process and tried to ponder the demands on creativity, energy and time management, endurance of interest. It's been a tall order that you two have created and executed. Blindingly brilliant. Massively generous.

The image of the old Ford Trimotor is now beyond complete, beyond expectation, beyond anything imagined. And beautifully rendered, as Garry has proven with his artistry, time and again.

Gary and Ed....thank you.

...Thank you.

Country listing of Ford Tri-Motor Repaints!!!

Greetings Happy Simmers,

Did a break down of the three hundered repaints and found that One hundred and two of them were not U.S based. Almost one third are from other countries from around the world: North, Central & South America the following:

Canada, Mexico, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Columbia, Brazil, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Honduras, Boliva, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Panama and Uruguay.
NOTE: Bush Flying Unlimited has three repaints & no national registrations on them, so they can be flown in any airspace!!!

From Europe, The Middle East, Africa, Asia, Oceania & even from countries that no longer exist, the following:

Belgium Congo, Union of South Africa, Kingdom of Egypt, Turkey, Kenya, Lebanon, Spain, France, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, England (GB), India, China, Latvia, Finland, Kingodm of Hungary, Netherlands, Kingdom of Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia, Italy, Switzerland, Australia, Belgium, Kingdom of Romania, New Zealand, Dutch East Indies, New Guinea and Manchukuo (Manchuria) to name a few!!

A observation on the details of each country repaints disclose sixteen different liveries for Canada. Mexico has seven, Cuba has four, Venezuela has four, Australia has nine, Panama - Dominican Republic - Chile - Columbia - Peru -Romania -India - England and Costa Rica all have two each. A very nice mix of repaints for one and all (smile).

Please enjoy Mr. Garry J. Smith's outstanding default Ford Tri-Motor repaints!

Happy Simming to all!

Just some interesting numbers

Ford Tri-Motor Project.
Some interesting numbers:
300 Liveries.
4 Paint Kits.
1.8 gigabytes of background artwork containing 1,403 files in 22 directories.
1.0 gigabytes of artwork for the 304 liveries using 2,746 files in 304 directories.
1,623 emails from Edward to me in relation to the Ford Tri-Motor.
1,221 emails from me to Edward in relation to the Ford Tri-Motor.
Project started 20 February 2011 - ended 20 September 2011 - 7 months
I was on holidays most of March - therefore 6 months on the project.
304 divided by 6 = 50.6 repaints per month - averaging almost 2 repaints every day

Should be a Guiness Book of Records right here. :applause: :applause:

Thanks again Garry and Ed :icon29: :icon29:

Pete.

Having dabbled a bit in painting myself I am simply blown away by those numbers Gary. 2 a day....of that quality no less....simply mind boggling.
Thanks again to both you and Ed.

Cheers
Stefan

I feel the same way. Several times I have banged out a paint a day for Piglet's stuff and after a week or so I've been sick and tired of seeing the same texture layout. To do it every day for 6 months is amazing dedication!

(Mind you I have spent over a year building my first aircraft for FSX and you get sick of seeing the same thing in GMAX after a while too!)

These are just some fantastic paints. Now to make up some flightplans to put these in the air. getting anything close to semi realistic will take months.

Thank you, Garry and Ed. :applause::medals::applause:

Ed, Gary, it's amazing the dedication depicted here on your 7 month venture to astound everyone the way you've both done here. Magnificent attention to details from all over the world. Talk about giving!!

Thanks to you both for your time, efforts, and sincere dedication throughout :guinness:

FULL Self Installer also now available

Thank you gentlemen for your kind words, appreciate them greatly - makes the effort seem worthwhile.

For your info I have compiled and uploaded to my site a FULL version of the Self Installer - includes all of the Damage files and the aircraft.cfg has visual_damage" turned on - for those that like to fly with Crash Detect on and like to see the "damaged" aircraft after a bingle.

Enjoy them - all for FREE and I believe something historic in being probably the greatest number or repaints for this or any other FS aircraft available from one site in one download by one painter.

Regards and happy simming.
