310 Out!

Thanks for the great pics Falcon,That VC is Sweet!!! Is that the default GPS shown in your pics?

Thanks for all the positive feedback, and we hope everyone is enjoying the aircraft. If you need support for any reason you can now go straight to our support forum at http://www.milviz.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=21 . You will just need to create you own user account and such. As I recieve emails from people I am trying to get their issues in threads and such. I've just read on Avsim that you must have Acceleration installed for this aircraft to work properly. (There are a few users who don't have Acceleration and are having problems).

Is this true?

Although I have FSX Gold I had a corrupted de-installation last time around and couldn't re-install Acceleration so have had to go the SP2 only route, so far with no problems with any other add-ons.

Maybe there are SP2 users in this thread who are not having any problems?

We are looking into this as we speak. As far as we know this should work on FSX Sp1, Sp2 and accel.

We will know more soon.

Thanks for your patience

Now, I need to get into the book and figure out what the two red safetied switches are on the left electrical panel are. :kilroy:
Glenn

Actually, those were a "late addition" I made while waiting for TSS and the final sound tweaks to be completed.

They only "animate and make clicking noises" since FSX doesn't support their actual functions... :wiggle:

Just had a look at all the screen shots. It looks fantastic but I have to ask before I buy - does it have some texture in the VC windows or is it open air?

A very subtle glass reflection texture was a "late addition" to the model(s) while I was waiting on the sound set to be finalized...

Second flight, still very much loving it but I have a squack:

The airspeed bands on the G1000 are way off. The top of the green is at 126 (the POH says it should be at 181. Red (Never Exceed) is at 160, the book says 223.

Glenn, the G1000's are the default FSX Deluxe versions.

The G1000 model and associated panel.G1000 configuration was only included as a "place holder" to allow folks to install any third-party G1000's they wish, such as the Mindstar G1000, or Flight1's G1000 system.

<!--StartFragment -->Just to clarify this point here...

Acceleration is NOT, repeat NOT a requirement!

I thoughly tested the installer on a Vista x32 machine with only FSX Deluxe + SP2 installed.

I deliberately did not use any of the "Acceleration specific" tokens or keyevents when developing the code.

The fact is that it should work well on any FSX + SP2 installation, save that the user won't have the G1000s unless they purchased and installed the FSX Deluxe version.

Those who're having issues with "missing parts" and/or misplaced nav, strobe, etc. lights need to turn some of their settings in the sim down a bit. The only way for parts to be "missing" is that they are overloading their video card's memory!

One minor quirk....as soon as I select the aircraft from the plane menu I get a lower hiss/static type sound in my speakers......am I missing something?

That's not a quirk. Those are the sounds of the multiple gyros and other noisy bits-and-bobs running. There are a bunch of things that're powered off the Master Battery bus. Switching on the Avionics Master, you'll hear even more stuff being "powered up."

Every thirty seconds, you'll even hear a "chuff" sound; that's the pneumatic door seal system purging overpressure from its tank.
These are all high quality digital recordings from Ken's actual aircraft! The C310R is a very noisy aircraft! :ernae:

Thank you, that's good to know re Acceleration. There are a few anomalies being reported on Avsim with differing opinions as to the causes. I'm sure these things will be ironed out very quickly so I'll sit and watch for a bit.

Honestly, there is only one reason for such "anomolies," and that is simply overloading the GPU. If an attached effect file is displayed improperly, it is because its "parent part" is not being drawn, so it has no "anchor point" any longer...

The string of green nav light points shown on the left wing for example are supposed to be white "bloom effects." FSX is getting confused because their parent part isn't being drawn.

Lowering some of the sim's settings should clear up enough GPU memory to eliminate these anomolies.

Bill,

I thought it might be something like that. No worries, I like the "real" panel better in that airplane anyway.

Some more shots of this beautiful airplane. . .these from Ranger Creek to Diamond Point. This series also points up the need for proper flight planning, lol. As I descended to Diamond Point out of scattered clouds I found myself engulfed in rain and visibility below 1 mile. I missed the approach the first time around by quite a bit as my attention was diverted for only a few seconds. By watching my altitude and the GPS I was able to realign myself for a successful final approach and landing. . .a bit hot, but I was still able to stop before the end of the rwy. Judging your altitude over open water with no other references is almost impossible in low visibility conditions, even when you can see it, the haze makes it difficult to really judge height.:salute:
