3DS Max Plug in question?

Hi all,

Does anyone know if Autodesk's 3DSMax software is compatible with the FSX SimObject SDK? I got fed up with Gmax and decided to download the 3DSMax student version instead.

I was wondering if there is a way to get the plug-ins for FSX SimObject SDK to work with 3DSMax? Also, does anyone know of any good tutorials for creating virtual cockpits?

Thanks,

Chris

The FSK SDK is compatible with Max, up version 8 or 9 I think. The P3D SDK will work up to Max 2012. 32 bit versions only, not 64bit.

The FSX exporter will work with Max versions 7, 8, 9, and 2008. As DaveWG says, for Max 9 and 2008 that's with the 32-bit versions only.

Can't help you with a VC tutorial though, sorry.

'fraid you'll be out of luck with an FSX VC tutorial.
Best bet is to start out by having a look at the sample DC-3 files and next head over to fsdeveloper and suck up all the little tidbits and pieces you can.

If 3DsMax was downloaded in one of those versions, I want in. Because the only software Autodesk mentions is,
For 32-Bit 3ds Max 2013 or 3ds Max Design 2013 for Windows

I'm not aware of any archives to download previous versions (unless a full version was previously purchased/registered (http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=16484766&linkID=9242018)) because I looked a couple weeks ago.

And read plenty on the subject. http://www.the-area.com/forum/autod...n-2013/wanted-3d-max-older-version/page-last/

Like I said I got the student version of 3DSMax so I got it for free. I'm studying engineering so any modelling tool is helpful with design. You can get it for free if your in a university program and have 3 credit hours in any given semester.

My son is attending. I (clears throat, my son) looked into getting the student version also.

OleBoy, if you buy a subscription as well as a licence for 3ds Max, you can get a previous version from Autodesk: up to three versions back so only the Prepar3D plug-in will work. It'll cost you! A certain Modeler We All Know has just recently done this and now has Max 2012, the rest of us guard our licences for Max 9 etc jealously!
