• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

On the Moon......
Remember watching a grainy B/W TV at my girfriend's house.....

If you ever get around that memory (better stick to it I guess), doesn't it feel good to think mankind has taken once again another step backwards in aerospace matters.

Seemingly.

I remember staying up half the night just to see it all happen, lots of crackles lots of blury images but something you will never forget.

Yes indeed. I thought we'd be colonizing Mars by now. Oh, and I was in my tighty whities on living room floor. The old B&W T.V. just a going. I remember my mom adjusting the rabbit ears, to no avail. She said. "what a load of #&%@", man can't breathe out in space! She was one of the many that thought it was a farce. She did come around though, later in life.

That space exploration and science stuff is too technical. We'd rather play with our iPads and watch reality TV. :frown:

And just over an hour ago .....

.... Atlantis landed for the final time. One small step for mankind, one great leap for the bean counters. :icon29:

Let us hope that Elon Musk, Richard Branson et al have more imagination and bigger cojones than the high ups at NASA. :salute:

You beat me to it Andy. I was running the internet this morning and heard the Boom - boom of it coming home.
It's the end of an era.

But hopefully the start of a new era. I think Space-X plans look exciting, as long as vested interests (ie Boeing) don't stifle him.
