Got one of those, the 100-400 L. The rest are nice but unless I limit my diet to water and bread for the next year or so I do think I will buy the others! :icon_lol:

I disagree with the 15-85 as being just a kitlens though! Most reviews seem to agree that it is an 'L' quality lens. The 18-55 is the kitlens, the 17-85 is a good upgrade and the 15-85 really is a good quality lens. And for the same price as the 17-55 f2.8 I have the 15-85 and the Tamron 17-50 f2.8!

Prime: Sigma 30mm f/1.4
50mm is far too long on a crop body. Stupidly sharp stopped down a little. Great value compared to Canon offerings.

Standard Zoom: Canon 15-85mm USM
Far more versatile than the 17-55 IS and image quality is just as good. Build quality is better.

Telephoto Zoom: Whatever fits your needs. 100-400 or 70-200, not both.

Macro: Canon 100mm f/2.8 USM (non-L)
The best deal per dollar in the Canon world. Nuff said.

Wide: Sigma 8-16, Tokina 11-16, Tokina 12-24 II
Any of these are better than the Canon 10-22 per dollar, and 2 of them are better than the Canon outright.



Sigh, gotta love when they ignore third party lenses... :blind:
 
Recommending the Sigma 200-500 f/2.8.. :icon_lol:

The Canon 17-55 f/2.8 might be a better choice than the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 if you look at quality but not if you take the price into the comparison! The Tamron costs 329 Euro, the Canon 859 euro!
Yes the Tamron may have slower and noisier AF and lacks a stabilizer, but still...

BTW there is a newer version of the Tamron 17-50 that does have a stabilizer (399 euro) but according to tests image quality is slightly lessthan the non-IS version.
