A-20 Havoc Data Collection

Thinking Ahead to the A-20 Havoc

Current Project status and plans:

Avia 57: Final phase before beta testing (Release before Christmas)
S2T versions: Whenever textures get done, will be ready for beta testing
Dash 7: Whenever textures get done, will be ready for beta testing (Release before Christmas)
XP47J/H: Textures have been started; some VC work remains, FM tweaks
Harpoon: Whenever textures get done, will be ready for beta testing (Release before Christmas)

Hopefully by end of year, the above projects will be done with possible exception if the S2T. The XP47's will be tight and may require January to wrap up.

Contemplated Future Projects:

F7F-1/3/N: Remap for textures, update VCs
Lodestar: undecided; unfortunately this aircraft is totally different from the Harpoon; not much is shared so whole new project effort
A-20 Havoc: Data Collection in progress
B-26 Marauder?? Requires further investigation-may drop from list

*Kicking own ass into high gear* ECU textures pretty much done on the inside, will fire you a mail with them in later tonight, and will set about the 'D' nose also, shouldn't take me more than a day or two to do that, likewise creating a bare-bones paintkit... :salute:

This is great to hear as I've wanted a good A-20 for ages. Check your PM's. I don't know if any of that is new or useful, but that's what I have.

There are two planes I would love to see added to the list one day. The information on them is sparse, but I do have some drawings and pics. I don't know if you're interested as they're rare aircraft, so I'm throwing them out there. These are aircraft I was planning to model for FS one day, but I have neither the time right now, or compatible software; upgrade windows and the old software doesn't work, grrr..

1) Douglas DC-5. I have an OK drawing of this, not seen online, and I have a fair amount of pics of the cockpit and the interior and some layout images.

2) Douglas XB-42. I have some superb drawings of this, the main one of which I've never seen online, but interior information is incredibly sparse. I've only found one cockpit pic so far.

If either of those sound interesting to you let me know. If not, I'll just keep digging for info for the future. :)

i would like to see Milton add a DC-5 to the list too..!! :jump: it is a twin engine after all..!! :wavey:
but after a Lodestar....haha

Douglas A-20... :o)

Airfoils;

Wing root airfoil, NACA 23018.

Wing tip airfoil, NACA 23009.

Thank you sir; noted. We hope to get the Avia 57, the Dash 7, and the Harpoon out before the holidays so I should be started on the Havoc by January.

Ha! Seems there is a decent DC-5 out there somewhere, maybe Simviation?

The Lodestar is not yet decided ... but hopefully I can pull that off next year concurrent with the XP47J/H wrapup, A-20 Havoc and F7F revisit.

Hi there,

There is a very nice DC-5 available at flightsim.com (dougdc5.zip).
Original model by J.R. Lucariny, KLM paints by Wayne Tudor, Flight dynamics by FS Aviatior. Yours sincerely also made a repaint, available at Avsim.com and Flightsim.com (dc5pkadb.zip) featuring a KNILM (Royal Netherlands Indies Airways) DC-5 (based on Wayne Tudor's KLM paints and on several photos of RW KNILM DC-5's). There must be some more repaints on the web.

Cheers,
Maarten

Oh yes! Probably my favorite AAF medium bomber. Dave Eckert's is good, but it's definitely showing it's age. But if pushed between the Marauder and the Lodestar, I'd have to go Lockheed.
Same here, Marauder fan... Marauder or Lodestar... it's all good!

Ahhh!

Whatever you guys choose, I'll happily go along with the deal.

So long as I have bits and pieces of aircraft cramming up the workshop, I'm blissfully content.:wiggle:

^ what Nigel said also applies here, not happy till i have about a dozen aircraft in my paint shed in various states of painting or tweaking :icon_lol:

Milton:

I have the Squadron/Signal book on the A-20. I can mail it to you on loan if you so desire.

Just let me know if you want it.

If it did come down to a vote mine would fall into the Lodestar camp. Anything Lockheed has a prime spot in my hangars.

Cheers
Stefan

Actually I have that and the nose and the cockpit are completely wrong. Just saying. Granted, the nose was reshaped after the first DC-5 in the cockpit area. The cockpit windows on the DC-5 aren't curved, they're flat. In the first model, the forward windows on each side formed a single plane. In the later models, the second window out from center was swept back at a steeper angle. Hopefully I'll get my software up and running some day.

OOOooohhh... the "Tigerkitty"... here kitty, kitty, kitty. Bad Kitty!!! Bad to the Bone! Well... anything with round engines at this point would be just fine with me. :applause:

Thank you Sir :) Please remind when I post the start of the project. That would be most appreciated.

Thank you Stefan. I haven't given up on the Lodestar. The pump is already primed ... just a matter of time. I appreciate your contributions and interest.
